Kawasaki Disease : no, its not from riding motorcycles

So a couple of weeks ago, my 20 month old son came down with a fever.  He was irritable and not easily consoled.  We were thinking a cold, or maybe even that dreaded flu that was just hitting California.  But there were no other symptoms, no runny nose, no coughing, no congestion, nothing.  Just a fever and irritability.  The fever progressed, and got higher, and I was giving him motrin every 6 hours.  After 3 days I finally made a doctors appointment....more

Thankful this Christmas, more than ever

Last night after I had finally finished the wrapping and made sure that the stockings were stuffed and the cinnamon rolls were ready to roll in the morning, I laid down and closed my eyes.  I thought of how tired I was, then my 19 month old woke up, and I wanted to cry.......I was so exhausted.  After I finally got him back to sleep, I lay there and thought to myself, " Wow, how incredibly selfish I was to be upset that my son woke up and disturbed me when all I wanted to do was sleep....more

GMO~OMG~What the H*LL are we putting in our bodies?

So California voters just voted against food labeling of gmo products.  Hmmm, makes me wonder why? In Liberalville USA, where free love runs rampant and pot smokers unite on almost every corner of San Francisco and Organic Farmers are becoming the norm, they rejected knowing what food is poisoned with gmo's.Before the vote happened, I spoke to some people, asking if they were going to vote for it (Prop 37) and ALL of them didnt know what it was.  I explained, the labeling blah blah blah. ...more

Which College Will She Pick?

My 16 year old daughter has just decided to major in Criminal Justice.  There are so many options there, I dont know how or what she will choose. The thing that distresses me the most is that she is looking into a college in New York. Guess where we live? ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY, good ol' Cal-i-for-ni-a.  Yep, she thinks she wants to go get a bite of the big apple.  But we have apples here, heck, we have APPLE HILL only an hour away.............more
