If you could change one thing about your life right now, what would it be?

Three years ago I had no options available as an outlet at my job. That is when I started my blog. When you have nowhere to go, you go to the writing block. Now I have a lot of choices available to me and I can't make up my mind where to do or what to do. Two weeks ago I asked for a divine intervention, for someone to tap me on the shoulder and guide me in a direction. I was at a conference and the speaker actually sought me out after the talk. That was divine.  So here is my wish list:...more

If you could have any job (perfectly trained) which job would you want?

When work is oppressive I daydream about jobs I wish that I had. I like working in teams to create a product that you can see the results in a short period of time. Immediate gratification for a job well done. Baking. I remember when I was a teenager, I worked in the kitchen at my local hospital. I was in awe of the baker. Her work space was a clean, powdery area that smelled awesome. She produced bread, cakes, pies and rolls. Everyone loved her. Who wouldn't want to be her? ...more

Talk about the last compliment you received.

I received a compliment yesterday from a female co-worker that my outfit looked really nice. I thanked her, which was a big thing for me to do. The first 50 years of my life I found it difficult to take a compliment. After raising children with one left in college and bullied by a boss for the past 12 years, I appreciate those compliments a lot more than I used too because they are going to be a lot fewer and far between. Thank you for the compliment, I appreciate it. I can say it. ...more

If you were President of the United States, what would be your first act in office?

My first act would be to meet with my rivals and find out what it would take for all of us to work together for the benefit of the country in tackling and prioritizing our most pressing issues of jobs and the debt. The focus needs to go away from our egos and focus on the benefit of the country as a whole. The Patty Beat can be found at  http://pattyabr.wordpress.com and The Fearless Cook resides at www.thefearlesscookingclub.com....more

NaBloPoMo November 5, 2012 What are your thoughts about tomorrow's election in the United States?

I am glad that the hype leading up to the election is nearing an end. I live in a battleground state and my life has been innundated with flyers, phone calls, door-to-door volunteers, TV and Radio ads. I never told a campaign worker who I voted for because I was raised to think that my vote is my business and none of yours. ...more

NaBloPoMo November 2,2012 f you could live anywhere, where would it be?

I can’t answer this question by giving a specific location in the world I would live. I have been to many states in the US but not all. I have only been to the countries of Australia and Canada. For me living anywhere is about being somewhere where I can be myself and have the love and support of my friends. the patty beat can be found at  http://pattyabr.wordpress.com  and The Fearless Cook resides at www.thefearlesscookingclub.com....more

NaBloPoMo November 1 Tell us your favourite quotation and why.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion it has taken placeGeorge Bernard ShawThis quote ends all my email messages at work. Work email is where messages can be promoted to help a project move forward, but also be misinterpreted and cause rifts in team building. I pride myself in speaking the truth and keeping communication lines open.George Bernard Shaw quotes in his ironic wit would be called "Shavian" notations. He used them to characterize observations. He spoke the truth in such a way that you heard the truth....more
