Th-th-th-that's all, folks!

No, not for blogging altogether, just for daily-blogging-in-November, since that's all there is of November, and I did daily blog all November, so yay, me! that I've done it, I don't know quite what to take away from the experience this year. Two years ago, I knew what to take away--I had pretty much dropped blogging before that, and a month of blogging made me decide to start up again and to blog a great deal more regularly. Or irregularly. Anyway, more. And I have done. ...more

Tonight is the first night of Chanukah/Hanukkah/Chanukkah!

Yes, tomorrow is also another holiday. Tonight, however, it's all about the lights! So have a potato latke or some sufganiyot (fried jelly donuts) in memory of the single-day's-worth of oil that lasted for eight, and the light (and Light) shed thereby, for it is that miracle that we celebrate with eight days of light from our menorahs (or, more properly, chanukiahs). ...more

The eyes have it

This will be short post, since I'm just had my cataract surgery yesterday. The surgery went well, and while I'm not exactly comfortable, I'm not in any major pain. And I can see better with one eye than last time, since my already-operated-on lens works pretty well without glasses now. Today I saw the doctor and she said everything looks good, so that's a relief. And I went and had blanks put into the right lens of my eyeglasses, so I can read and walk around more easily, with the left eye properly corrected. ...more

I'm late, I'm late...

Now, THAT's entertainment

I loved those. I loved them even more after seeing That's Entertainment with my parents on the big screen in a movie theater: ...more

Here, have a song for Chanukah

It's Friday, and a short Friday at that, made even shorter by the fact that I'm going to my sister's for Shabbat. Which is lovely, but that means I have No Time to here's the latest Chanukah offering by the Maccabeats (the Yeshiva University a cappella group): Video by MaccabeatsVideos. ...more

It's not exactly hoarding...

I just spent some--too much--time moving my media files (you know, iTunes library, some movies, that sort of thing) over to a new external hard drive, as they were in danger of choking the life out of my computer's internal hard drive. ... Okay, not really. But they come to about 100GB, and my internal hard drive has only 320GB of space (it's an old machine), so that's a substantial percentage, and I haven't even ripped the great majority of my music CDs because I was afraid of the space they'd take up, and now I can go ahead and digitize to my heart's content. ...more

Making random Jewish references in a Chanukah song

Hey! Just one week from tonight is the first night of Chanukah! I've been so busy trying to take care of everything before my cataract surgery on Monday I practically forgot. So, for a happy-time break--which has nothing to do with procrastination, nothing, I tell you!--I went and downloaded some Chanukah songs. ...more
