An update...

First...I want to say thank you to everyone for the emails and comments and good wishes and prayers.  Those emails were a huge help in passing the endless hours, sitting in the waiting room waiting to hear news from the doctors.  Thank you all so much...for everything.  The blogging community is an amazing group of people and I consider myself lucky to be a part of it.Now...an update......more

I still can't believe it...

My dad almost died last night.  He was crossing the street to his car last night after work and he was hit by a car.  The car hit him so hard it knocked his shoes and his glasses off his body and the force threw him about half a block.  He was rushed to the hospital with a broken arm, two broken legs, a broken nose, severe facial lacerations and some internal bleeding.  His blood pressure was extremely low and he had to have a transfusion.  When I got to the hospital with my mom, the nurse told us that it was touch and go and that things could go either way...we jus...more

I am my mother...

My mother can never remember the name of any actor or movie or song. Ever. So we will often get calls from her and she'll say "What is the name of that actor...you now...the guy...who was in that movie that time...with that girl and the dog...and it was raining? Come on, you know." And we can usually figure it out after a while. But my dad, brother and I have teased my mother about this mercilessly for years. Seriously...years....more

Gratituesday...

I haven't done a Gratituesday post in a while and a lot of great things happened this week...so I thought I'd tell you about them... Someone gave me a very expensive scarf as a gift and I wasn't crazy about it.  I decided to return it and in exchange I got two cashmere sweaters, a pair of Armani sunglasses and a different scarf that I really like.  Getting something you really love...fabulous!  And getting amazing sunglasses that you'd been looking for forever...even better! I've been wanting to see Wicked for years, but never seemed to be able to fin...more

Scenes from a mall...

I love to shop.  I love the feeling of walking into a store and finding that perfect item…exactly what I was looking for.  And the feeling of getting a great bargain?  Love it.  But lately, shopping has been more of a chore than a joy.  Whenever I go to the stores lately, I can’t seem to find what I’m looking for…or I find it but it’s $973 more than I expected it to be.  It’s been very frustrating, so I’ve been avoiding shopping…and especially avoiding the mall.  I’ve been shopping online and if I have to go to a store, I try to ...more

What we're doing today...

Last weekend, J and I went to CT and cleaned up all the leaves in the yard. It took all day, but ew did a great job.  There wasn't a leaf in sight.  I was just a beautiful carpet of green lawn. When we got back to CT last night, this is what we found......more

Random Musings Friday...

Before I get into my normal Friday nonsense, I’d like to take a few minutes to talk about something serious.  Today is Veterans Day.  As you go about your day, take a few minutes to remember those who are overseas…at war…defending the freedom that we enjoy every day.  Think about the sacrifices those soldiers and their families are making…consider what they are giving up in service to the rest of us.  Take a few minutes to thank a veteran…it’s a small thing that means a great deal. I’d also like to offer a very warm WELCOME HOME...more
