A Father Whose Been Changed

Because NaBloPoMo’s theme this month is Relatives I realized that I had written this series about my dad a couple of years ago. This particular post sums him up quite well. So I thought I would repost it for today’s Relative post. He has come a long way from his cancer battle. Several references are made to that period of time in this entry. If you are interested in reading the series i wrote about his fight with cancer you can do so by clicking these links:My Dad, My Hero – Part 1...more

Where Do We Learn To Mother?

I asked each of my family members — including my parents – what they learned from their mother. I got answers from my Michael and my mom. I thought a few moments of focusing on what a mother’s job is might help us to remember what we have learned about mothering....more

This Is What Friends Do

This month's NaBloPoMotheme is Relatives. I agreed to participate and THEN I thought about how many days I was gonna have to write about my family. 29 days! That's a lot of family. I then began thinking through various ways to write about family and what I might say about each one. It became a daunting task. But then I thought about what is going on around me. We have had quite the eventful month on our street....more

February Relatives

A new month has rolled around. I love to venture around the blog-i-verse and see what kinds of blog challenges I can find. I love participating in monthly blog challenges because it gives me a reason to write regularly and it gives me a chance to reach out to other bloggers and bond in our common goals. I still have a few challenges I want to explore today, as the first day of the new month....more

Grow Up Brandi Glanville and Other 13 Year Old Girls

This post was sparked by something I saw Deion Sanders post on his Twitter account this morning. I happened to have been thinking about this subject for days now. So I took his tweet as a sign that I should share my thoughts. He said:What you can walk away from says a lot more than what you can stand up to! The victory is in keeping your peace....more

The Weed of Unforgiveness

Yesterday we talked about what the Bible says about how we are to forgive – as God has forgiven us. Today I want to share a little about what forgiveness does for us. It’s not an easy thing to do. I know this all too well. I have had to do what seems to be more than my fair share of forgiving. That also means that I have had a lot of burdens lifted. And that means that I no longer have to carry the weight of those burdens around on my back anymore. Let’s use the verse from yesterday in Colossians to begin our discussion today....more

How Am I Supposed To Forgive?

Out of all the things that have been racing through my mind in the last couple of weeks I feel most led to share about forgiveness. And there is so much I wanna say. But I will try to remember I am only writing a blog entry and not a book. This Bible study, Living Beyond Yourself, is very challenging. I had no idea just how much I would learn. I’m picking up on things in scripture I hadn’t noticed before....more

Goals Goals Goals...Gotta Meet ThoseGoals

Well today is a first for a couple of occasions for me here for November. I am getting back on the wagon with 3 in 30. I took a couple of months off because of health reasons and because we’ve been so busy I just haven’t taken the time to stay on top of things. And I’m also participating in NaBloPoMo once again. I haven’t done that since the spring. For the same reasons above I have gotten away from posting regularly here. I miss it and I feel so disconnected from my friends when I am not writing to you regularly....more

Be Your Own Advocate

I have some really great notes from Bible study last week. Don’t get excited yet though. Today was my procedure (I wrote this last night) so not many thoughts are getting through the pain I’m feeling at the moment. I’m hoping by tomorrow afternoon I will be feeling well enough to think through the pain. But last week’s lessons were on Peace. WOW! God sure has perfect timing, doesn’t he? He knows what we need when we need it. The only thing about that is that this week’s lessons are on Patience. Uhhhhhhhhhhh – I don’t wanna need this lesson right now. Know what I mean?...more
