Tomorrow May Never Come

One of the saddest days of my life was the day my (now) step-sons had to be told their mother had passed away....more

Generation X: All Grown Up

OMG! Have you guys heard about Miley Cyrus's performance at the MTV Music Awards?! Of course you have. We all have. Thanks to Miley, foam hands will never be looked at the same way again. Thanks to Miley, me and the entire Generation X crew has been outed as an aging generation of hypocrites. Let's go back in time for a moment....more

She Is Me: Raising My Reflection

She stood before me, giving me that look. That look...I have seen it thousands of times before. It no longer phases me. It's her go to move, as is the crossing of the arms that would happen at any moment. Three...two...one...arms crossed. She is so stubborn, I thought. Stubborn. Sassy. Type-A. As I stood there, looking back at her, I had a revelation. Freud was a freaking genius...and super pissed off that he is not around today to further his research. ...more

OMG! Mommy Has Sex!

The Wall Street Journal recently ran an article by Elizabeth Bernstein titled "How Often Should Married Couples Have Sex?" I truly believe this is a great read that raises some interesting points but I must admit that when I read a write up about the article on the Huffington Post the other night I was highly critical of the piece. ...more

Motherhood

I am a blessed mother to five wonderful, silly, pain in the ass, loving, crazy kids. Besides The Big Guy, these five humans are the absolute loves and joys in my life. They are the reason I know more about Spongebob than the current news and the reason my dream getaway turns into a trip to Disney World. Motherhood is something you never fully appreciate nor understand until it happens to you and once it does, well, you truly understand the meaning of selflessly living your life for the good of another....more

It's me. Again...once again reminding you that being a jack-assed douchebag to my kid is not okay. It's me...the one who has them more than every other weekend...which all of us know isreally Saturday through Sunday afternoon. It's me...the one who bakes cookies with them...who dances around making a fool of herself...just because. ...more

Don't Sweat the Small Stuff...Enjoy the Hell Out of It

I slept until 11:00 AM today. I swear on the kids lives I did. It was awesome. The best part? I had a hot cup of coffee on my nightstand waiting for me. I kid you not. The only thing that could have made the morning any better would have been waking up at 11:00 AM, being seduced by The Big Guy....on a secluded island, french doors of our luxurious suite open wide, the sheer curtains blowing in the wind, and the sound of the ocean making this 11:00 AM wake up call the most sensual experience of my life. But beggars can't be choosers....more

It is Your Choice...

A few months ago the kids and I were at a local park. I was sitting on a bench reading while the kids were running around, switching between playing on the playground and tag. Some time had gone by when a woman approached me. She had a scowl on her face and looked like she was prepared to rip me a new one.  Woman:“Excuse me! Do you realize that while you have been sitting on this bench, not paying attention to your children, they have begun running around playing cowboys and indians?”...more
