Windy Goes to Nebraska

So I had to travel to Nebraska for a business trip this week. As usual, the trip has been an adventure so far. It all began early Monday morning. I mean early! I set my alarm clock for 3 a.m., but was so tired that I didn’t actually get moving until 3:15 a.m. So I was fifteen minutes behind schedule ....more

Getting the Slip on Slips

Now that I’ve been losing weight again, I thought it was time to go through my closet and see if I could find anything interesting to wear to work. I was a little excited to discover that I could fit into a skirt that I hadn’t worn in quite a while. But the material is a little clingy, so I figured I would wear a slip under it and I would be okay ....more

Just Keep Swimming

After several years I finally got back to swimming for my exercise routine. But, as with most things in my life, my pursuit of good exercise does not come without obstacles. It took three weeks but I was finally able to speak to the membership person at the gym and sign up! We kept playing telephone tag, or he wasn’t in when I went for my morning swim, blah, blah, blah. Nevertheless I persevered and signed up for a six ...more

Windy Goes Swimming. Oh My!

So the other day I decided to go to a local gym to check out the facilities with my niece, Jessica. We went and met the perpetually bubbly and somewhat tanned girl behind the desk, who enthusiastically told us about the memberships available. I was only interested in the pool. This gym is the only one in the area that has open swim times in the early morning and late evening hours. So I was happy to hear that ....more

People Always Talk To Me.

Apparently I still have that face. The one I’ve blogged about before (you can read it HERE). Despite my efforts to remain stoic and not make eye contact,  people just seem to see me and start telling me the most bizarre stories or intimate details of their lives, The other evening I stopped at a convenience store to buy milk. The cashier was taking a few moments to give me my change. Then she went on to tell me that she ...more

The new year.

The new year has begun. It’s now the time of reminiscing about times gone by and forming resolutions for the future. As I look back on 2012, I realize that, for me, it was a busy year. I had to go to Louisiana for work two separate times while moving into a place of my own in between. Oh, and there was also the publishing of my novel on Amazon! Following those busy weeks came a change in my job ...more

Thanksgiving Memories

When I was growing up, Thanksgiving was always a big holiday. It was one of the few holidays that my mother didn’t complain about, even though she did most of the work to make the day a special one. Preparations started weeks before. October was the month of the turkey shoots, where my Dad would go with his rifle and shoot at a target. The closest shot to the paper target won the bird. Some years my Dad would succeed, ...more

Baggy Pants and the New Moon

Yesterday there was a new moon. That’s usually the time for new beginnings, feelings of accomplishment, and overall good vibes. Or at least that’s what some people say (astrologers, for example). But yesterday was a complete disaster as far as I was concerned, and I couldn’t wait for it to be over ....more

Windy and the Class Reunion

This weekend was my high school class reunion. It has been 30 years since graduating high school, but my first time attending a reunion. I was looking forward to the event, but knew that I needed to prepare. First, my hair was getting a little out of control, so I went to get a hair cut. Of course, as the woman was cutting, she asked for my opinion regarding the length. I should have known better and should have chosen to ...more

I'm excited to write about a product that is available to help parents dispel any fear of monsters with their children! The Monster Proof Paint concept was created and developed by a relative, so that makes it even more exciting to share with you....more
