Pumpkin Peanut Butter and Blackberry 'Jam'

This was AMAZING. And so easy, I almost feel bad posting as a recipe, but it's just too good not to share. I almost titled this post "Never Buy Jam Again" but it was fall so I opted for the whole Pumpkin thing. The latter has a nice ring to it though, don't you agree?...more

Your Epidermis is Showing

I have received a lot of calls from people asking me, "what are you doing with Rodan and Fields? What on earth is Rodan and Fields?" So naturally ;), I decided to start a blog, explaining and chronicling my experiences while (hopefully) keeping me and anyone who reads this motivated, so thanks for reading :)You May Not Be Interested, but this is Why Rodan and Fields is so Exciting to Me: ...more

Pumpkin Pie Shake

Ok, I know it is just barely September, but I love fall squash, especially pumpkins since they are so reminiscent of Halloween, Thanksgiving and Fall in general. Not only that, but they are loaded with vitamin A and fiber. Plus there are endless things you can eat, do and make with pumpkins: like pies, lattes, ice creams, oatmeal, jack-o-lanterns, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin soup and well, why not a healthy pumpkin shake to make it feel like fall while it is still hot and the pools are still open down south ;)....more

Mastitis and Maternal Maladies

This is a little graphic, so read at your own risk. I hesitated putting this out there, but I have had a number of friends ask me about this, so I figured why not share and hopefully help those who had/are having very painful nursing experiences like did! If you are/were really determined to nurse, don't give up. It took me 4 months before we figured it out and it finally wasn't painful excruciating....more

Banana Bread Pancakes

I hadn't originally intended for these to be banana bread pancakes, but that's what they came out tasting like. I went to the refrigerator to make Little Man some pancakes and discovered that I had no milk and no eggs. How on earth did that happen?! I did, however, have almond milk, overripe bananas, flax and chia seeds....more

Oatmeal Cookie Currant Ice Cream

So there we were at Zaxby's (one of my husbands favorites) and I saw a poster for this cake batter milk shake and thought that it looked delicious. Then I thought, there is no way I am going to drink away upwards of 1000 non-meal calories. I'm not in high school anymore, Toto....more

Cool Produce Secret (at Kroger) and an Easy Week Meal Plan

So I had a pretty successful grocery trip to Kroger and bought all of the following fresh veggie packs, all marked down. Pretty exciting.   I also learned that Kroger does their mark downs on all produce 3 days out from the "use by" date. The tricky thing is that they only have 1 employee who marks down one section (in the whole store) per day....more

Healthy Eating without Breaking the Bank or Using Coupons

Cooking can be expensive, especially if you love experimenting. Cooking healthfully, let alone organically, has almost become cost prohibitive. Why on earth are 4 ears of corn $5 at Fresh Market?! I understand there is a drought, but come on. Those bad boys are $0.50 at the Farmers Market!I am a pretty stubborn person, and I love to cook. When I noticed prices steadily and dramatically climbing on the foods we loved, I was determined to find a way to eat the same foods without suffering financially. I never found coupons useful because they are often for processed foods....more
