If you've arrived to NaBloPoMo on BlogHer.com via the redirect from the old site, you may be wondering how you got here. And even if you had mentally moved yourself over to the new NaBloPoMo site, you may still be wondering where all your favourite features are located. Have no fear! November's NaBloPoMo has officially started, and I'm here to tell you where to find things such as the blogroll, badges, and the daily prompt.

Blogrolls

We're using a different sign-up sheet this month, solely due to the inclusion of great prizes every weekday in November. In order to make this month's enormous blogroll usable with the random number generator, we needed to get rid of categories for the month and just make one long list. To sign up, please go to the blogroll sign-up sheet and fill out the form. You'll be moved onto the blogroll within 24 hours.

You can find the November blogroll itself here. Each month's blogroll lives on the NaBloPoMo Blogrolls page. You can use these blogrolls to find new blogs and to support your fellow NaBloPoMo'ers.

Badges

This is the official badge for NaBloPoMo this November, but participants are still welcome to upload their own and leave a link to it in the comment section. Feel free to place any NaBlo badge on your blog!

Prompts

There are a multitude of ways to get the daily prompt. First and foremost, it's always at the very top of the NaBloPoMo home page with a pale blue background. The daily prompt is also archived with all of the monthly prompts in its own post each month (see all lists of monthly prompts here and the prompts for November here). You can bookmark the month's post and return to it nightly to see the prompt for the next day.

The prompt is also tweeted nightly from our @BlogHerBlogging twitter account, so follow us on Twitter!

Finding NaBloPoMo Member Posts and Adding Your Own

Go here to read all the posts NaBlo participants have posted on BlogHer.com.

We invite you to share your own NaBloPoMo posts on BlogHer.com. It's a great way to expose your blog to a wider audience, to interact with the NaBlo and BlogHer communities, and/or to just try out this blogging thing. Just click Create a Post at the top right of any page, and make sure to select NaBloPoMo under Blogging & Social Media to add your post to the section. (See Using This Site for more instructions on how to blog.)

Newsletter

Lastly, the newsletter. It will go out weekly, providing news as well as featuring great posts that you cross-posted (or solely posted) on BlogHer. I really encourage you to sign up for the newsletter because it is the number one source for NaBloPoMo news. We'll be announcing prize winners, exciting opportunities, and helpful writing tips, as well as all the how-tos that go into running this blogging project.

So that's it -- the main things you need to know about the new NaBloPoMo space. We're settling in nicely on our first day, and soon we'll be featuring your posts and giving them a little extra social media love. So kick back with your computer and get writing.

Melissa writes Stirrup Queens and Lost and Found. Her novel about blogging is Life from Scratch.

Were there prizes this year? Where were they announced?

Melissa Ford 42 pts

Jyllian Martini

There were. They were announced weekly in the NaBloPoMo newsletter. And a note was sent out to the winner each night.

ah, I never got the newsletter. Kept signing up but it wouldn't go through. Oh well. 6 years and counting now is it? :-P

I think this is a must read for everyone...and that if everyone would pass this on, it could become the next big thing. LOL

Super enjoying having NaBloPoMo at the BlogHer site. I've never checked the BlogHer site out, although I've seen the little tags for it on several different blogging forums. Now, I can quit procrastinating and spend some time getting to know this publishing network. For now I am just posting on my regular Blogger site, but I hope to try cross-posting by the end of the month, once I see how things work on here. I always enjoy jumping out of a rut. Of course, I almost always just jump into another one. sigh.

Would you be so kind and redirect my url to : http://redquillchronicles.blogspot.com/ I am now 309 on the blogroll. I hope this won't disqualify me from winning prizes if my name is drawn, but since time is the only thing I can never replace, I don't want to waste another minute on blogher trying to figure out their platform.

Melissa Ford 42 pts

Sorry that you're having problems with the platform.

I went ahead and changed you on the blogroll.

I signed up for the NaBloPoMo November challenge yesterday, on the 5th. Should I write an extra 4 posts (for November 1-4) during the month to catch up? Not sure about the exact rules.

Melissa Ford 42 pts

siv

A lot of people who started late went backwards and posted on those other days. It's up to you.

HollyM 5 pts

In the signup it asks for my blog url. All my blogs are specific -- can I post for NaBloPoMo from any of them depending on the topic? And if so, how do I sign up to have it updated from the one I use?

Melissa Ford 42 pts

HollyM

Unfortunately, there is no way to do that. You can upload more than one blog separately, but each one will be listed separately as well.

Book_Sense 5 pts

Is there an another way for me to get to the Nablopomo post by participants ? Or do I have to keep coming to his post and clicking on the link.

Today the meal was tough. I went with childhood memories and picked my Mom's holiday tradtions. You can find it :http://christywoolum.squarespace.com/blog/2011/11/...

I am eager to read others!

Ignore my first question...just found the answer : )

Emily@SAHM.i.AM 12 pts

Please forgive me if you've already answered these questions somewhere and I missed them. This is my first NaBloPoMo : ) 1) Do we have to write a post in response to the prompt every day or just write a post every day? 2) If we write a post on our blog for NaBloPoMo can we post it on BlogHer also or can we only post it one place? Thanks!

Melissa Ford 42 pts

Emily@SAHM.i.AM

You can definitely cross-post -- any option works: posting only on your blog, posting only on BlogHer, or posting in both places.

I'm glad you asked the questions, too. I know that I was making this harder than it was!

Wow, nice update/upgrade from previous years! I'm so happy to see this project living and growing.

Not sure where my earlier comment ended up about not being able to find where to post this month's blog posts...But. I did find the spot after following Melissa's directions, so thanks for taking the time to do that for the rest of us, Melissa....One last question: our posts won't automatically go up on twitter - we have to manually hit that share button once our post is up on Blog Her. Yes?

Melissa Ford 42 pts

kathyporter

Right, no posts are automatically tweeted. Or Facebooked. Or Stumbled. So get to it, people! Support each other's work and point people towards good writing :-)

DonnaWannaHolla 5 pts

Thanks so much for the info Melissa. I guess I thought the previous website was the correct one since the hyperlink sayd "blogher" in it. Well I got my post copied over here and the only thing I had to tweek was selecting the catagory for NaBloPoMo. It will just take some time to get situated here.

Melissa Ford 42 pts

DonnaWannaHolla

Definitely -- change is hard.

amadisonmom 5 pts

Do you have to use the prompts this year? Or can you just write?

Melissa Ford 42 pts

amadisonmom

It's up to you. Some people like the prompts so they always have something to write. Other people ignore the prompts and just go with whatever is happening in their life.

I'm a bit confused...I'm hoping someone can help.

http://nablopomo.blogher.com/

That's where I had my profile and where I copied my blog post for the day, but now I'm getting a 404: Not Found message.Just want to make sure I'm flowing in the right direction here...my profile on the larger Blogher site is not specific to the blog I'm posting to this month.

Denise 380 pts moderator

girlfridaymedia The profile you created on the old NaBloPoMo site is not carried over to BlogHer.com and posts published over there were also not carried over to BlogHer.com. (The old site was officially closed today.)

You can update your BlogHer.com profile (there's nothing in there right now) to include a photo and links to any of your blogs (or other online presences, like Twitter, Youtube etc.)

I'm so confused! My blog is on blogspot (blogger), which I just updated. I signed up for NaBloPoMo (#17 on the blogroll), but I'm not sure if just updating my blogspot page is enough? Do I also have to do something like I see here: http://www.blogher.com/taxonomy/term/113590/all/me... Am I supposed to post there as well? Sorry, I've read a bunch and I'm still confused. I don't know what the "all members" page is all about.

Denise 380 pts moderator

alienbody If you submitted your blog to the Nablopomo blogroll then you're good - all you have to do is blog everyday on that blog. You can cross post on BlogHer.com if you want but you are not required to do so. :-)

Sheila Cameron 5 pts

Denisealienbody Thanks Denise! Alienbody I was confused too.

siv 5 pts

Denisealienbody I posted my entry on BlogHer under the Social Media-NaBloPoMo subcategory. I thought that was enough? I also added a comment to the open thread, with a link to my posts (yesterday's and today's; I signed up only yesterday). I am on the Blogroll(#2211), but don't know how I would submit my daily posts to that blogroll. How does that work? Thanks for your help.

Denise 380 pts moderator

sivalienbody All you have to do in order to participate is submit your blog to the blogroll (which you've done) and then blog on that blog every day for the entire month.

If you want to cross post your entries on BlogHer.com, you can but it is optional. If you want to share your links in Chatter or in one of the Nablopomo link sharing threads, you can but it is optional.

Ummm. Did all the groups disappear?

Solnushka We did not move any of the NaBloPoMo groups over here. You can create a group, if you like: http://www.blogher.com/community

Ugh. I had everything set up, wrote a post and scheduled it and NOW I can't find it, my updated profile or anything. Sheesh, talk about making this a freaking chore. And there's no one to contact.

Melissa Ford 42 pts

anniegirl1138

There's actually a lot of people to contact :-)

Why don't you email me so I can walk you through finding your post.

melissa.ford@blogher.com

Denise 380 pts moderator

anniegirl1138 The contact us link at the bottom of the page is a great way to ask questions. There's almost always someone hanging out at BlogHer Chatter (http://www.blogher.com/chatter) who can help, and of course you can email Melissa or me (denise@blogher.com) any time.

Deniseanniegirl1138 Hi Denise -- I'm just about to sign up and tried your link to the chatter for info. The link has the ) included at the end of it so the link goes to a 404 error page -- just FYI for you 'cause some people may not know how to remove it in their address bar.

Holly :)

Denise 380 pts moderator

HollyManniegirl1138 Ah yep. New comment platform does not like it when you don't leave a darn space after a url - I sometimes forget that when I'm typing quickly.

With two freelance projects looming, I can't believe I'm committing to this, but I hate to sit on the sidelines while everyone else is having so much fun. I was actually going to cut back to two posts a week rather than my standard three; we'll see where my good intentions lead me. I do have a question, though. My blog is fairly new, and I'm building it as I go along. Does it count if I create a new page (under construction), as I did, for example, today? Or are you limiting the daily entries to posts only? Here's what I mean: http://themidlifesecondwife.wordpress.com/the-midl... Thanks so much!

Melissa Ford 42 pts

Midlife2ndWife

Technically, they should be blog posts, only in regards to the prizes. It's just too hard to figure out when pages were created, etc. But that's only in regards to the prizes: nablopomo is really about setting a personal goal to write daily. So in that case, pages totally count.

Thanks so much, Melissa. I'll see what I can conjure before midnight ET tonight!

Jaguwar 7 pts

I'm a touch confused. I don't see a blogroll on the left sidebar? (or the right one, for that matter, though I do see plenty of featured blogs... I could get lost for days here!)

victorias_view 916 pts

Jaguwar Lots to navigate :) This the blogroll http://www.blogher.com/nablopomo-october-2011-blog... You can find it when you click the tab Blogging/ Social Media and it is one the left hand side bar.
