Natural Powder Foundation

I have been searching for a natural foundation for a while now. And although there are many options for bought natural foundations, I can’t bring myself to accept the price that they’re selling for. That’s right, I’m cheap.
So, after much research and some experimentation, I have finally found a recipe for powder foundation that works for me and contains natural ingredients that are sitting on the pantry shelf. Phew!
Note: I am still on the hunt for a good, natural and homemade liquid foundation recipe for those days that I want a little more coverage.
INGREDIENTS:2 tbsp Arrowroot Powder 2 tsp Organic Cocoa Powder1 tsp Ground Nutmeg1 tsp Ground Cloves1/2 tsp Ground Ginger1/8 tsp Ground SageLavender Essential Oil
Measure all the dry ingredients into a small jar. With a fork, mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly blended. If there’s any trouble with mixing, simply put a lid on the jar and shake vigorously.
Once all ingredients are blended, check to see if the colour matches your skin tone. If you have a lighter skin tone, add a 1/4 tsp of arrowroot powder at a time, blend and check again. For those with darker skin tones, add 1/4 tsp of cocoa, nutmeg or cloves at a time, blend and check until a match is reached.
Note: Make sure to do the matching in natural light!
After the foundation has been matched to your skin tone, add 10 drops of lavender essential oil. Mix thoroughly.
The foundation will seem a bit clumpy, so take your finger or a spoon and gently press down to compact it. This isn’t completely necessary, however I have found that it helps in not allowing too much foundation from getting on my brush.
For those of you looking for more of a fine, mineral-like powder foundation, you can add 1-2 tsp of natural calcium bentonite clay powder. And for those looking for a firmer powder, you can add a 1/4 tsp or more of coconut oil.
