Need a ride to BlogHer '09? Back by popular demand - The Chevrolet Carpools!

UPDATE: The Chevrolet vehicles are currently full, but for those of you who weren't matched with a vehicle, I strongly encourage you to carpool to BlogHer '09 and to continue to use this page as a forum to find other BlogHer attendees to ride-share with.  Please feel free to email Erin Groh with any questions.

Original post below:

GM is once again providing vehicles for bloggers to carpool to BlogHer '09 in Chicago this summer, after providing Chevrolet models for BlogHer '08 and Saturns for the Reach Out Tour. This year, we are thrilled to have Chevrolet back once again! We strongly encourage you to sign up for carpools, even if you don't get matched with a Chevrolet - This is a great opportunity to save money, be green and bond with your fellow bloggers!

Here's how it works:

  1. Make sure you qualify for a vehicle (see "Requirements" below).
  2. Carpools must include at least 3 passengers, and up to 6.
  3. Confirm others in your area who would like to join you. If you don't already have people in mind, you can post a request in the comments section for other bloggers who want to carpool. If you already have a group established, send an email to Erin Groh, who will verify your group against the requirements and follow up with instructions.
  4. If you've indicated your interest in a vehicle in the comments section, we will try to match you with other nearby bloggers and a vehicle. Once we've verified your group, we will match you with an available vehicle on a first-approved, first-served basis. *Please note: We will do our best to match you up, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to match everyone due to vehicle availability and location.

If you don't need a ride to the event, you can still drive a Chevrolet. They're bringing Chevrolet models for Ride & Drives at the BlogHer '09 Conference.

Requirements:

  1. Your group must include at least 3 BlogHer '09 attendees. Once you have been notified that your group has been approved, all attendees have 48 hours to complete their registration for the conference or they risk forfeiting their reserved vehicle to the next group that applies.
  2. You must be able to factor in drive time both to and from the conference, as you will be required to drive both ways.
  3. Car reviews or any other write-ups about the vehicle and your experiences are welcome and encouraged on BlogHer.com and on your own blogs. In any posts that you mention the donated vehicle or arranged carpool you must disclose that GM provided you with the vehicle.

FAQs:

Where do we pick up our car?
Once your carpool group has been confirmed and matched with a vehicle, you will be notified and may elect to pick up the vehicle at a GM facility or have the vehicle delivered.

What costs will GM cover?
GM is responsible for any costs relating to the vehicle, including repairs resulting from any malfunction, or malfunctioning parts. GM will provide the first tank of gas. Vehicles will either be given to carpoolers with a full tank or GM will reimburse each group for the first tank. GM will not reimburse lodging expenses, food or additional recreation costs. GM will cover parking costs at the Sheraton Chicago.

What are the insurance requirements?
There are no special insurance requirements to participate in the BlogHer ‘09 carpool.

Woohoo! Also live in Santa Cruz, CA - 90 minutes south of San Francisco.

My New Blog not quite ready for public yet!

Thanks....

UPDATE: Bought plane tix.

I would rather drive than die in a fiery
plane crash

I'm just north of Los Angeles and I'm a Rule Follower on the road.

Also, I have a built-in radar that can detect Starbucks stores better than your run-of-the-mill GPS system.

And? I've got the most bumpin' iTunes playlist you ever want to hear.

Pick. Me.

I think I could put a group together in the

I'm interested, and I  think I could put a group together in the DC area.

Woo-hoo!!

I've already got two of us driving to BlogHer from central Ohio - I'm sure we can find at least one more person, since I know several Ohio bloggers going to the conference.

Even better - I've done that 7 hour drive enough that I think I know every Starbucks along the way for travel blogging wi-fi.

Oooooh Pick Me - I'm in Ohio too!

It's my first BlogHer conference and I'd love to be included in the Ohio carpool group.  I live in Cincinnati, but am willing to drive and meet you and then we can go from there.  What da ya say...got room for one more fun person?

Ohio Carpoolers

Hi Verria,

We actually have a lot of Ohio bloggers interested in the carpool.  Why don't you email me your information and I'll see if I can match you up with a group.

Stealing Verria...

Hold that thought--since Verria is rooming with me and my friend Bea, and we're from Lexington, KY, we'd be happy to pick her up along the way if you could score us one of the Chevies. Also: are they offering the Malibu hybrids this year, and are we allowed a preference on which car model we'd want to drive? Thanks so much for any and all help!!!

DC-Area

Count me in for a DC-area carpool.  Thanks Jodi!

YAY!

Very interested in Los Angeles and I have 1 other confirmed from Orange County.

hey, I am the one Adrienne warned you about
-Orange County

Driving sounds like a lot of fun!

I would love to blog and drive! And my G1 has GPS, so we won't get lost, and can find Starbucks (because that is key)

I am easy when it comes to music, I have very eclectic tastes and will probably be fine with whatever. I will also bring my iPod and my sense of humor. (and NO children!)

Blogher or Bust!  It was so much fun last year, I cannot WAIT!

ETA: I see there is Adrienne, undomesticdiva and me, in the L.A./Orange County area...that makes three, right??

Still Interested?

Hi MamaBub,

Are you still interested in carpooling?  If so, please send
me a quick email - I may have a carpooling option available for you.

DC carpool--count me in!

Let's totally get a group together out of DC. I'm in!

Another DCer

I'm interested, although I'm a one-way (to BlogHer) girl, so my group would need to consider that. I have Shallow Gal (from VA) with me, and would love to hook up with some of the other DCers!

ooh, pick me please!

I'm already planning to drive from my house in Lansing, Michigan to Deb Mom of 3 Girls' house in Grand Rapids, and then pick up Lisa from Lisa Reviews in Oak Lawn, Illinois. Depending on the size of the vehicle, I'm sure we could pick up one more person from SW Michigan! My husband has a Chevy Malibu which we LOVE, but it got hit in a parking lot and it's pretty banged up. I want to arrive in STYLE! lol

A ride in to the city?

I live in the SW suburbs of Chicago,(Tinley Park) near I-80, not too far from Indiana. I would love to ride in to the conference with someone passing my way. I'm not too far from Oak Lawn (I grew up there). And to get to know someone in person, before the conference. Anyone out there?

One more? Maybe

It looks like there are two of us in Santa Cruz. Anyone else remotely near the SF Bay area that would be interested?

Got plane tix.

Omaha NE area

If anyone in the Omaha, Lincoln, Kansas City or Des Moines area is going, we could put together a carpool.

I think, therefore I blog.

Stick Yer Thumb Out!

If our little group of 3 from Los Angeles area gets approved, we can swing by Nebraska and pick you up!  It is totally on the way!

KC

I'm not in KC but I know someone who is near there if you get a vehic.

I'd be in the Des Moines

I'd be in the Des Moines area!

I got plane tickets

So you can take me out of the DC group.  Got plane tickets.

Anybody want to drive from NYC area?

I know it's a schlep, but thought I'd ask!

Jan at http://itsajanslife.blogspot.com/

Is it US only?

'Cause if it isn't, I'd be down for a Canuck-a-van.

Flinger

If you could get to Seattle I bet you could get Flinger to drive.

Me!

I will carpool with you if you can get across the border. You think itwill be cheaper to driver than the $400 airfare. We should ask if Mrs. Flinger et al want to join in.

Anyone considering driving from Colorado?

I'm in the Denver Metro area and would be willing to drive to Chicago. I've done the Chicago to Colorado before when we moved out here. It can be done in a couple of long days and maybe we could pick BlogHer attendees up in N. Colorado, S. Colorado, Nebraska (hey AprilTara from Omaha) or even southern Wyoming?

I already have plane tix, but can easily change them. I can bring my GPS, too!
