Need for Tweed

On Friday night, we will be attending a dinner party to honor the late Scottish poet, Robert Burns. Here is part of the witty invitation that was sent out by my sassy lassie friend:

You are invited to Burns Night Supper. It will be an unforgettable evening of celebration, poetry, frivolity, food, song, drink, merriment, and the spoken word in the Scottish tradition... Plaid, tweed, argyle, houndstooth and other Scottish dress strongly encouraged.

Per the requests on the invite, Jim and I will be donning our very best Scottish attire. Of course, Jim will be wearing plaid. This makes sense because he already owns quite a few plaid shirts, but just  in case he wants to step it up a notch, I bought him a red plaid sweater vest at the Goodwill today.  It is screams, "I'll take a double Rob Roy on the rocks!", in a rogue, Scottish sort of way.

I have chosen tweed because it's so very chic, elegant and timeless, (Thank you, Coco Chanel!), and ever since we received our invitation, I have been obsessing over what my outfit will look like.  I have spent hours perusing fashion websites, blogs and Pinterest to try to come up with the perfect, polished look.
