In Grits and Purls, we blog about parenting, children, writing and knitting. We try to find inspiration in the grit of daily life, and to find wisdom in ordinary things. Sometimes we spin a yarn, and other times we just talk about knitting. A purl is one of two basic stitches in knitting and it is a homonym of pearl, a thing of beauty in nature, unique in its makeup--but it starts out as a grit, a tiny grain of sand inside an oyster.
