Last June, I posted an article about the new Apple iOS 7 that was set to come out next Fall. Well, it was announced yesterday, in a press release hosted by Apple CEO Tim Cook, that the iOS 7 will be available for free download on September 18th, 2013.
The new iOS 7 is compatible with:
- iPhone 4, 4s and 5
- iPod Touch 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB (5th generation)
- iPad 2, with retina display and iPad mini
At the press conference in California, besides all the infos about the iOS 7, they also announced the two new models of iPhone, the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C.
Apple CEO Tim Cook explained why they decided to launch two iPhone models, this year: "In the past, when we've launched a new iPhone, we lowered the cost of the old iPhone, making it more accessible to new people. But this year, we're not going to do that." he said.
The plastic-made and colorful 5C model will be a lower-cost version of the iPhone 5 with many new features, compared to the iPhone 5S who is supposed to be the top standard of the smartphones.
You can watch here, as Craig Federighi, senior vice president of software engineering at Apple, announces iOS 7 release date and features, in the video below and you can judge by yourself how this new interface will a great update for iPhone users.
So be patient iPhone users, we will be able to benefit from all the new and cool features very soon. A week goes by really fast!
