New BA STAR Eye Shadow Palettes {Review}

The flu did not make me give up on my goal of competing in a bikini competition. One of the reasons that I've decided to compete in 2015 instead of 2014 to compete is because there is just so much I need to do to prepare both physically and mentally. In general, judging is based on having an overall healthy-looking toned body with good symmetry, shape, fullness, balance and proportion with good poise, posture, confidence, stage presence and comfortable presentation. And one of the things important on a stage is proper makeup. That's why I was excited to be able to try out BA Star Eye Shadow Palettes.

This is the new smokey eye palette.  I figure if it's great for cheerleaders and dance teams it should work out well under the stage lights at a comp. I was a little concerned that the colors were very dark but, uh, it's smokey eye and for stage so I'm not sure what I was thinking. Plus once on, they aren't dark at all.

I really liked that you put on an eye shadow and glitter base (the little tube in the picture). It gives your shadows real staying power. I remember walking in the bathroom at the last comp I went to and all of the ladies were reapplying makeup between rounds. While I'm not sure that I'd get by with not reapplying, maybe keeping it to a minimum will be good. I'm going to be nervous enough my first time out.

I was happy with the outcome although I think for stage, I need to apply more heavy-handed. It's a good thing I have time to practice. Also, the makeup is great and doesn't irritate me any. The glue is not sticky, it's actually very light. But my one complaint is the applicator. It's horrible and cheap. Next time I will use my own brushes but for the purpose of review, I wanted to try it with their brushes first. BA Star has great tutorials on YouTube so it made application easy and the price is right, only $8.75 for the palette (does not include the glue).

If you're a dance or cheer mom, you should know that BA Star is the #1 Performance Makeup. The tutorials and pictures are actually on young girls so it makes it even easier to follow if you are doing your daughters makeup. As for me, I plan to keep on practicing with this palette for the stage.

  • Have you ever applied stage makeup?
  • If so, what is your best tip?
  • Are you, or have you ever been, a dance or cheer mom? (I have)
