New study says drink green tea for better memory and spacial awareness

The benefits of green tea have long been touted for everything from weight loss to lowering cholesterol levels. But a new study out of China says that that EGCG (the main ingredient in green tea) can not only improve memory, but also spacial awareness.
Using mice, the researchers found that mice given EGCG found a hidden platform faster than those who did not recieve EGCG. (This was after three days of training to find a visible platform in a maze.)
The theory is that EGCG boosts the producton of neural progenitor cells (similar to stem cells), which can turn into a variety of types of cells.
The scientists hope this will help to develop medicines for memory loss and other degenerative diseases.
