New Year 2013
By BusyMomofTwins on January 04, 2013
New Year’s Eve has never been my favorite holiday. While I appreciate the significance of changing from one year to the next I do not feel the emotional significance that other people do. I do not feel the pressure of finding the ‘perfect’ thing to do New Year’s Eve, but I love to enjoy a good meal at home with people I love.
I have a friend at work that thrives on outrageous stories from New Year’s parties/events. He made a decision in his early 20′s that he would not spend New Year’s in the same city twice. Crazy? Maybe. But, I can say that he has had some pretty fantastic New Year’s in locations all over the world. Now that he is nearing 50 I think the search for a new place and a great story is getting a bit exhausting. I wonder when he will give this up? 65? 70?
All week I have been reading bloggers and writers posts about 2013. From their blogging checklists to personal goals, to resolutions, December 31st is universally a time for reflection.
For me, 2012 was filled with some tough times. I am happy to see those in the past and looking forward to the fresh slate 2013 brings.
On the other hand, 2012 was when this blog was created and since the very first post I have loved blogging. I have loved the writing, the learning, the readers, the other bloggers, and the online community and network I have acquired through blogging. Thank you to all of you for reading, for your encouragement, support and patience with my newbie questions and blogger etiquette fumblings.
I vow to make 2013 my best year yet. To focus on the positive and the happy. To keep learning and working but also take time to play, discover and enjoy life.
As we all raise a glass of champagne (or apple juice) to toast 2013 I’ll be hoping that all of your dreams for the coming year come true.
Happy New Year 2013!
