NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS - The Vision Board
By bigcurvylove on December 30, 2012
NEW YEARS EVE is only a few days away and thanks to OPRAH and THE SECRET for the past seven years I’ve been on a quest to make the perfect VISON BOARD. Here’s how it works:
- Cut out pictures and words that represent how you want your life to be (usually pics of cars, houses, sexy men, hot bodies and words like, love, success, marriage, happiness)
- Glue the images on a sheet of cardboard and place it where you can look at it every day.
This vision board is meant to tell your brain that what it sees (i.e the pictures and words) is real and already your present life.
The week before NYE I’d trawl through gossip mags searching for glossy photos of beautiful celebrities with perfect bodies and carefully cut out their expertly photoshopped pictures. I’d glue a photo of my head on them. Yes, its looks weird and is slightly freaky but I really wanted happiness which in my mind would only happen at if I reached 50kgs/110lbs. Yep, at that point i’d for sure attract a fabulous boyfriend, get an amazing job, and suddenly be a millionaire with magnificant boobs. Hmm delusional much!?
All I had to do to make this my in real life was to stare at the vision board for a few minutes every day and trick my brain. Yeah right, I must be too smart because the only trick was on me.
NYE 2012 was different. Instead of making a vision board I made a decision to love my body at any size. It changed my life forever and I’ve never felt happier or more confient about myself. Here’s a photo taken a couple of weeks ago of my real life non-photoshopped size 22 body and guess what? I’m happy!
My 2013 goal is to be healthier and it has nothing to do with being 50kgs/110lbs. This year I want to start being my own role model. If you want to lose weight in 2013. Great. If you are happy where you are right now. Great.
When you’re making your new years resolutions, goals and decisions for 2013 don’t limit yourself like I used to saying:
“‘I’ll only be happy WHEN I get to ‘x’ point. My real life will start then”‘
Your real life is NOW and you can change how you think and feel at any time you choose! Do you have a yearly vision board?
What are your New Years Resolutions and goals for 2013?
