I'm proud to present to the BlogHer world, my first official freelance food story as I find my way into the next chapter of my life. The food story is all about a fascinating new type of bluefin tuna. Sushi lovers know that their beloved toro is extremely overfished. But this new tuna being raised from the egg in captivity in Japan may or may not offer some hope for the future.

You'll find a link on my blog to the actual story that ran in the San Francisco Chronicle: http://www.foodgal.com/2008/05/news-for-sushi-lovers/

Maybe when gas prices stablize, you can take a trip to San Francisco for lots of good eats.

Meantime, I know they are continually working on expanding production of the Kindai. So with luck in a few more years, maybe supplies will be such that more than one shipment of three fish will come into the United States once a week.

Thanks so much for reading. Glad you found the article interesting.

Best,

Carolyn

This is an interesting turn in the world of sushi. I hope I can eventually find a place locally to try Kindai at least once - I don't think a trip to San Francisco for sushi is in my budget! Thanks for the read!
