Not all that long ago, I wrote what I thought was a poignant, sensitively-written blog post about my teenage stepdaughters.

They had gotten in trouble, but not much trouble. They had acted up, but in a way that would make nearly every mom out there chuckle, shake her head, and remember her own days of teen mischief.

I wrote about the incident because I thought my girls wouldn't mind. I thought they'd see it the same way I did, as a learning experience with which everyone could identify.

They didn't.

They read it and asked me to remove it from my blog, which I promptly did. I also apologized. To their credit, they weren't upset. They just didn't want their foibles out there for everyone to read about.

How do I blog about my teenagers? For the most part, I don't.

I realized even more at that point that to a teenager, EVERYTHING is embarrassing. The color lipstick she wears is embarrassing. The games of tennis she plays during PE are embarrassing. The failed two day romance with the boy she met at the ice cream shop? TOTALLY EMBARRASSING.

There is almost nothing I could write about my girls that would not be embarrassing. I do still write about them occasionally, but I'll admit it's very rare, and I'm even more careful than I was before.

And I understand why moms who blog about their teens are few and far between. It's just too difficult for many of us to pull off.

Still, you've been asking for us to find some for you, and so on the next Backtalk, we do just that. We'll be talking about some of our favorite moms who write about teens. Most of them, like me, don't write about their adolescents often, but when they do it's sensitively written and right on the money.

That show is coming up on Wednesday.

In the meantime, you still have another day or two to get videos and post links in for our next three shows. We will be covering blogging about special needs children, blogging about bullying, and blogs that explore whether kids are consuming too much caffeine. You can upload a video here or leave your links in the comments!

We'd love to hear from you!
