Romney can't talk to me about investing in America when his accounts are overseas. It doesn't get any more hypocritical than that.

Ezra Taft Benson gave a talk you can listen to called The Proper Role of Government you can listen to @ www.ldsconservative.com. It is a must read/listen to for anYone confused about who to vote for. The only one I would even consider is Ron Paul. And I used to think he was an absolute nut. In the days when I was fed by the media, I believed government was the answer to our problems. It didn't help that both of my parents worked for the government and always acted like we couldn't live without the government. Scary to think that we as the American people look to the politcians to solve most problems that can be solved by families and communities. By the way, the government did a terrible job taking care of us. Our health care was so bad that my parents never took us to doctors because coverage was so bad. I am 37 years old.

It really scares me that so many people are supporting Newt Gingrich, who is extremely erratic and a HUGE ego maniac. His personal track record is shameful (how many wifes/mistresses are there again?)

Also, I find it extremely difficult to believe that Mitt Romney can pretend to relate to anyone suffering in our (or any) country. I can't imagine having anything in common with someone in the top 1% of the financial heap. He seems WAY out of touch with reality, at least the reality outside his uber-rich circle or the LDS church.

I am really sick of hearing that Mitt Romney can't relate to anyone in the County because of his enormous wealth. Seriously?! Since when has being successful turned into a crime? With a Harvard law/business degree, I would hope he would be successful with that kind of education. Isn't that what we all strive for? I don't understand your logic when it comes to Mitt Romney. Do you have a job? If you do, is your boss wealthy? CEO's hire people and if their business wasn't making money, you wouldn't have the opportunity to work there. I don't have a lot of money, but I am supporting Mitt so that one day my house will actually be worth what I paid for it. I don't care that he has millions of dollars, I want someone who can fix the economy . Lets not forget, every single person running for President, including President Obama are very very wealthy. Mitt Romney might be the wealthiest, but don't think for a second any of them can actually "relate" to you.

Jenn0121kelie Hi Jenn, I actually OWN the company that I work for, and employ 12 people on a full time basis. I pay taxes (32%), the salaries of 12 people who also have families, and NO - I am not rich. I have a masters degree from Cal Poly in Architecture and Urban Planning, and paid for that degree by working full time while going to college for 7 years. I have no student loans or debt because I earned my degree - I paid for it myself. How about you? How about Mitt?

Mitt Romney was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, has not had to struggle or earn any of the money he has, and I find it extremely difficult to believe that he could ever relate to the average American. Obama came from nothing, earned EVERYTHING he has, and for that reason alone I do feel that he can understand the majority of people in our country. In fact, unless you are in the top 1% of our country financially, I would think you would be an Obama supporter. And don't forget, it was the Republican de-regulation of the mortgage market that got us into the housing crisis - Obama inherited the Bush era mistakes, remember the housing crisis began BEFORE Obama was even elected!

The GOP is a mess, an absolute disgrace to America..I am embarrassed every single time I hear them speak. They aren't trying to "save" America..they just want the black guy out of office. They have made it ok to be racist again..disgusting!

President Barack Obama is a brilliant man handed a ticking time bomb that he has defused quite nicely. Choosing a president based on religion or ethnicity is pure ignorance.

Why does it have to be so ugly? I just seems so many candidates lie and we'll never have the truth. Guess that's just the name of the game? I do like Romney's more moderate ideals, please please let's not put Gingrich in the race.

I'm thoroughly fascinated by the Republican primary, it's been such a roller coaster for the candidates and the electorate. I for one can't get enough of it even though I don't have a horse in the primary. Come November, I will proudly vote for Obama once again.

I'm a liberal Democrat and enthusiastically support Obama's re-election--which I'm quite confident will take place.

I believe that Ron Paul is the only man who can save this country that is spiraling out of control. He is the only person that will get the country out debt in three years. He will get rid of all things unconstitutional...Income tax, multiple undeclared wars, an unbalanced budget, many unneccessary government programs, etc. I know a lot of you like Mitt Romney, but I cannot find many things he is consistent on. I don't know where he stands and neither does he. I do like that he is a member of the LDS church, but I was disappointed the other night when I watched an interview of him. He made a statement to the person interviewing that you cannot use the doctrines of religion to guide a nation. Wow! What a disappointment. Plus Gingrich is a JOKE!

alwaysabloom 5 pts

jlra I am not LDS however I do not mind that any candidate is because as I heard what Mitt Romney said (and I agree) you cannot use the doctrines of any one specific religion to guide a nation. This nation is supposed to be a nation of religious freedom. The doctrines of one specific religion are not the doctrines of all religions and there for it is inappropriate to force all citizens to follow one religion. That is why "we" left Europe oh so long ago, that is why there are constitutional protections for freedom of religion and that is why we all need to understand that while the country needs to be run according to ethical and honorable behaviors it is not supposed to be run according to a specific religion.

When public schools first came into being in the US one of the purposes for that school was to teach citizenship to children both those born in the US and those immigrants that came to the US in search of freedom. This is why we still refer to the system of creating new citizens as "school" and those are the doctrines that united us all. Those students study The Constitution and The Declaration of Independence as well as other historical documents and events that created this country.

Politics has become more that just the way our country is governed. In the end though, it should be about who we are as a people and what values we hold that we want support. We are at a crossroads with two very distinct camps in America with two very different value systems. For now, our elected officials should be looking to our constitution for guidance for the basis of our laws and governance. That does not seem to be happening, on either side. If we, as Americans, want to amend our constitution, then we need to have that discussion. Until then, the rudder on our ship of state is the constitution. Without its guidance we are rudderless and adrift and we are unable to articulate our future. We are susceptible to losing our freedom and becoming pawns in a game we no longer control. Remember, in the United States we have a government OF the people, BY the people, FOR the people. It is incumbent on each of us to know what the constitution says. When was the last time you read it .... as an adult? It is available online here (http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/constitu... ) Read it. Have a discussion with your family and friends about it. Talk about what freedoms we have as individuals and what the role of our government, as defined by our constitution, is responsible for. Talk about the how those roles are being fulfilled and where there is overreach. Don't drift along thinking it is too complicated. Don't drift along thinking it doesn't matter. Don't drift along thinking you don't matter. Don't be a lazy citizen. Lazy citizens get taken advantage of.

ontheside Wonderful post! I also recommend that people read the Declaration of Independence, this document and The Constitution are partner documents.

I just cannot imagine someone with such a divorce record, and it seems a record of leaving his wives when they major health crises, being the president of the Unites States. I believe that the morality of the president sets a tone for the rest of the nation, or at least how we are perceived. Gingrich, and his lack of morality when it comes to women, really disgusts me.

clarekin 5 pts

Honestly, Gingrich frightens me. He is so out of touch with not only America but his own life. If he's the nominee, and he wins, I told my husband we're moving to Canada. I still have faith that Mitt will pull through in the end.

I think we are fooling ourselves if we think that any president really can do anything when congress is so bent on destroying each other. When the republicans had a majority they stuck us deep in debt. There is no glossing over that fact. We should have never bailed out the banks in the first place. They should have let them fail but they were their friends and paid a lot of money to elections. Congress hold bills hostage and tack on excesses to those bills so they can get what they want for their lobbyists. It's about who has the money to bend the ear of the congressperson. Normal people will never be able to do that. Obama should not have wasted the last few years trying to work on healthcare and should have worked on jobs and education. Ron Paul is the only one who is willing to take on the big banks and media consolidation which is why he will never be elected. You will never see a story that does not have a bias when the major networks are owned by big companies (like GE) who have big govt. contracts and have a lot of money on Wall Street. Gingrich is famous for crony politics and being a bully and America is blind if they can't see that. Santorum is just a bigot and Romney should have put out his tax returns the minute they asked. For him to think that wouldn't matter in an election is dumb. He should know better than that. It makes him look seriously out of touch with the 99% which I think he is anyway.

I watched news interviews in South Carolina prior to the primary. One woman said she didn't care who won and all she wanted was to get Obama out of office. Politics is a passionate topic with so many people but we have to keep our heads and look before we leap.

Gingrich won in South Carolina and I can't believe that people can't see the connection between the unethical way that he has acted in his personal life and the way he will take that behavior into office if he is elected to any office let alone the presidency.

Electing "anyone" just to get Obama out will not help our country if the person elected is worse than what we started with.

Watching from across the pond, US politics is a source of never-ending fascination. If i got a say (which I don't, probably luckily) I'd be tempted to try to keep Obama in office, simply because a stable regime over an eight-year period has more chance of eventual success in something like stabilising the economy than a series of different four-year plans. Also, we have a Conservative (or at least primarily Conservative) government at the moment whose reductions in spending are hugely unpopular and potentially creating a perfect environment for a swing back towards the left wing, and Labour currently lacks a strong leader so that would probably result in another swing right the election after that. In the meantime, the school system, tax arrangements and NHS are in a constant series of flux and endlessly under 'reform' as each government tries to remedy, as they see it, whatever the one before's been doing. Since the current crises have no easy answer, and, possibly foolishly, I do believe that politicians on both sides are intelligent people aiming to do their best, the best way forward is to give them enough time to go at it and carry their plans out in full, instead of constant chopping and changing. That's my tuppence-halfpennyworth, anyway :).

I feel very overwhelmed by all the information. I think that Mitt is the best candidate to get us out of our economic crisis, but If Mitt gets the nomination, I'm a little afraid, too. I';m afraid of the spotlight that is going to put on the Church. I am uber sensitive, and I'm not ready for all the fallacies and lies that will be spread.

Mame, people dont need Mitt Romney to have the spotlight on your church..they just need to Google it. It is strange that you would worry about the scrutiny..if you truly had no doubts:-0 My doubts and education led me to leave....

I'm scared. I'm afraid that there are so many people in America that are so uninformed and too many that only get their news from the main-stream media. Also there are a lot of people that still fall under the spell of Obama. How anyone can still delude themselves that he had helped the country in any way. Yes he got Bin Laudin but that was all due to the Bush interrogation tactics. I do know that it will all be ok and if we are righteous we need not fear. Newt also scares me because he is big government and too many anger issues. Plus I'm not sure he is a true conservative. That's probably enough babble for now.

Thanks for being such an inspiration and sharing so much of your self. You are a true faithful daughter of our Heavenly Father!

I'm pretty middle-grounded. I don't care because who-ever's in office isn't going to matter because we're going to pay anyway (taxes, etc.) and then I do care, because I'm gay, and I would like to have the same rights as a straight person.
