Do you travel in the winter?

Where? How far? In the snow?

I do! Just look at that weather.

Now your turn: Where are you going this winter, and what's the weather like? Leave me a comment. I want to know!

We travel 6 hours to Moberly, MO. It's close to Columbia. My in-laws live there. We go for Thanksgiving if the weather permits.

I live in a small city in Northern B.C., Canada and driving during winter is just a part of life. It really doesn't feel like much to drive an hour and a bit to the big city & Costco. I avoid driving when there is a weather advisory though. I will drive to the city until it is -45 C/-49 F. Winters up here the temp normally ranges from -20 C/-4 F to -50 C/-58 F. Church has been cancelled several times in the years we've lived here, this was when the temperature reached -60 C/-76 F with the windchill. This winter we've been lucky, we didn't get our first snowfall until mid-November and the temperature has been fairly mild. We've only hit -20 C/-4 F a few times, with daily temps ranging from 0 C/32 F to -15 C/5 F.

The roads between here and back home are ones I avoid during the winter months, they have a lot of hills/valleys where the roads get very icy and alot of wildlife (moose) come out to play along/on the highway, so we opt to stay north from November to March. Merry Christmas!!!

We just got back from Disneyland last week. It is so nice to leave the freezing temperatures behind! It was sad to watch the thermostat steadily drop back down to 30 on our drive home.

Oh, we'll be doing our normal treks to Pittsburgh and back. I think we're scheduling a visit as well, so I'll get to hit the PA Turnpike in the snow, which is always a blast.

Yes, I live in Alaska, and as a mom of 4 busy boys, I am constantly on the road. Right now it is going back and forth from raining and being windy. Mostly the roads are ok, but the freezing rain can make them into quite the skating rinks.

I'm curious if Nie Nie read this or her email sent to nieniedialogues@yahoo.com? I ask because I sent her and email and received no response. I'm guessing she gets many emails and maybe no time to read or reply? I was just severely burned in an airplane accident very similar to hers and will be staying home this winter.

Best,

Rick (rickgray@roadrunner.com)
