News flash: Your business might not need a blog.
Now that I've got your attention, I'm happy to announce that we are ready to get started programming BlogHer Business '07 this coming March in New York.
Please check out the new BlogHer Business '07 page that explains why business is the first topic BlogHer Conferences is branching into.
We are looking for the following:
Session ideas, with a focus on practical application more than theory
Speaker submissions...suggest yourself or someone else, along with areas of expertise.
Gurus or experts for a potential "Ask the Experts" segment.
A little more information on that last one: I was a blogging "expert" at the Netquared Conference this year, and from all accounts the entire idea (not my particular part of it) was a smash success. So, imagine, two hours of free time to go from table to table visiting various experts and get a little one-on-one or maybe one-on-four-or-five time on the issues of your choice. Want to start a blog? Sit down and get it done. Want to get a little free advice on your current marketing plan and how blogs might fit into it? The doctor is in. We'll be looking for feedback on what Experts you'd want to be at your beck and call, and we'll be looking for those Experts.
Please send your ideas on any of the above. The first, soft deadline is Friday, October 13th, because we'd like to publish a basic schedule in October, and because I like Friday the 13ths.
Please spread the word...and if you don't come to us, we'll be on the look-out for you!

Going from niche to rich...or just self-supporting
anastasia September 12, 2006 - 7:07pm
Hi Elisa. I wanted to pitch a session idea here and get community feedback. I've decided to leave my job at Current TV and make a go of doing Ypulse full time. By March, it will have been several months of bootstrapping. I'd love to lead a session on the power and potential of niche blogging and building a focused, highly targeted audience vs. going for the big traffic numbers. I would cover the advantages are being able to brand yourself as an expert and use your following as a platform for book deals, speaking engagements, consulting, etc., and use Ypulse as a case study on niche blogging (the challenges of doing it both while holding down a job and making it your full time job). Is this something any business Bloghers would be interested in?
