Craving Bed Head: When Sleep Won't Happen

My husband hasn't slept in five years. Watching him watch the clock is difficult, especially for me, someone who can literally fall asleep seconds after my cheek nestles against the pillow and who pretty much slept through a 6.7 earthquake. When counting sheep and drinking a glass of milk before bed doesn't work, what's going on and what will give you the rest you need?

Fatmammycat.com tells us about the endless list of questions running through her head as she can't sleep, including: "Where did that daddy longlegs go? What if it lands in my mouth when I'm alseep?"

A Crazy Quilt Life finds that "the reasons for [her] insomnia are difficult...to pin down," but it might have to do with "stressors, separation, the womanchild's body image issues flaring up, challenging work situation."

The white zone is for not sleeping only. Letha’s Health Secrets lists some help for frequent travelers (and others) suffering from insomnia which will make your trip a bit less turbulent.

When all else fails, I just get up, go to living room, flip on Turner Classic Movies, and lie down on the couch. Works every time.

Unfortunately I wake up stiff and overheated...

And are a little less harsh on the wake-up side of things or so I've heard.

It's basically a combination of catnip, valerian and aherbal calments, the dosage should be on the bottle. The important thing is to take them with a little snack (they will start to work faster if your stomach is already breaking stuff down) and to make sure you give 1/2 an hour for the effects to kick in.

I used to take 4 a night, now that my body has re-adjusted itself to fall asleep around midnight they are less neccessary.

good luck to your husband sleeplessness sucks.

Trazodone is a non-addictive "sleep resetting" drug. Have him ask his doctor about it. Also, I use liquid Melatonin-- dose is 4 droppersful under the tongue before bed.

I'm awake right now and I should not be. I'm tired. Not quite exhausted anymore but still very tired. TW is snoring in bed and I. Am. AWAKE. Not good. Tomorrow I will pay for this. Grrr!
