Say, have you checked out our blogroll lately? It is a thing of blogging beauty, trust me!

Coming up: Great reads from a Caribbean perspective. Let's get to it.

Abeni from And Still I Rise blogs about stingrays being killed after the death of Steve Irvin:

I knew the stingray had achieved notoriety when it killed the Croc hunter.Never thought though that they would be hunted and killed in revenge. You would think the stingray hatched a plot to kill Steve Irwin and as a consequence its entire family should be eliminated

So people are honoring Steve Irwin by killing marine life? Uhm, do they know who Steve Irwin was? People can be very, very strange sometimes

Islandfamily from Celebrate the Everyday remembers hurricane Ivan as it passed over Cayman Islands two years ago:

We packed for the weekend and left with Elle, not even six months old at the time, heading to Atlanta still thinking the hurricane would most likely miss the island. Little did we know.

While Aruba did not receive hurricane strength winds, and only a few gusts of tropical storm winds, Ivan managed to cause some fairly heavy damage to several structures and beaches. So I shudder to think what Cayman Islands must have gone through.

Linda Thompson from My Barbados Blog mentions that:

BWIA West Indies Airways is to be shut down at the end of this year to make way for Caribbean Airlines, a new carrier that will connect Trinidad and Tobago with its Caribbean neighbors and with major international cities.

I wish the new venture a lot of success. I don't know about elslewhere in the Caribbean, but Aruban / Dutch Antillean airlines have very often been lacking in their customer service, to put it mildly. So I'm definitely rooting for a new, dependable Caribbean airline.

Thank you for flying with Blogher: Caribbean Section. We hope you have had a pleasant and interesting read and we hope to see you next time. And seriously, don't forget to check out our blogroll .
