Skinny Jeans, RSS, Oprah and Technology is Power!

Explaining RSS to clients always makes me feel RSS, Really Stupid Sounding. Oh, I get it, use it and couldn't live without it, but explain it? Forget it. So, it was with great excitement (OMG, did I really write great excitement?) that I read the post from Back in Skinny Jeans, How to Explain RSS The Oprah Way. As Stephanie explains, RSS means Ready for Some Stories. Her illustration says it all and she includes a list of RSS readers and an explanantion of live bookmarking with RSS and and illustration for that also.

Apparently I am not the only one with an RSS Explanation Impairment. Stephanie's next post was Thank You Cool Bloggers and Visitors and she says the traffic from the Oprah post "nearly broke the house down." She then went on to offer a "now that I have your attention" explanation of why she was writing about technology on a blog about skinny jeans: "Technology is power...and technology also represents freedom." Oh yeah, baby!

Stephanie writes: "Technology is power, and many people, especially women, rely on beauty as their primary source for power in their lives .I want to offer other solutions for people that will help them build character, happiness, independence, and connection beyond a pretty face and hot body.

Technology also represents freedom. I swill showcase technologies that help make our lives better, and sometimes all that takes is a simpler way of explaining things. The web is an extremely abundant place and a source of unlimited opportunity. I am so happy to be here on the web. Every day is a new learning experience and a chance to meet some really fabulous people!"
