Like mother, like daughter... or like daughter, like mother?
by Mir Kamin

"You have your mother's eyes!"

"This is cooked exactly the way your mother does it."

We've all heard it---ways in which our mothers' traits or talents or habits have been passed down to us, their daughters.

Thanks to the increased popularity of blogging, now we can turn the traditional declaration on its head, as more daughters are convincing their moms to become bloggers.

I was able to think of two bloggers right off the bat: Both Miss Zoot and Jennifer Mattern of breed 'em and weep enjoy a loyal following. Both also enjoyed frequent and entertaining comments left by their mothers, until finally the fans' clamoring for more convinced the bloggers' moms to each start their own blogs.

Now you can read the comments she's left for Zoot, or catch Zoot's Mom over at Empty Nest. And you can read the comments she's left for Jenn, or catch The Mater---as fans know her---over at her self-titled blog.

Both women share interesting tidbits of their lives, in their own right, though of course it's somewhat voyeuristic and scintillating to read about a blogger you admire as written by her mom! (Well, okay; more voyeuristic than reading blogs already is, normally.)

Today I read about another mother/daughter blogging duo. Get Skinny Already is the daughter's diet journal (from the point of view of a stay-at-home mom to youngsters), while her mom pens Hot 'n' Heavy about her own struggle to shed some pounds. Fans can follow the entire family by reading one or both blogs.

So enjoy having her nose, and cooking her recipes... and maybe think about getting your mom blogging like you. I hear all the cool moms are doing it!

Jory and Joy

And we couldn't possibly forget: BlogHer founder Jory, whose mom Joy leaves frequent comments on her blog Pause which you can read at www.jorydesjardins.com, convinced her mom to start her own blog. Check out Joy's blog at http://www.joyofsix.typepad.com/.
