Illinois Senator Barack Obama told NBC’s “Meet the Press†that he may run for president in 2008.
"I would say I am still at the point where I have not made a decision to pursue higher office, but it is true that I have thought about it over the last several months," Obama said.
In January, Obama told NBC that he would not run for president or vice president in 2008.
Taylor Marsh writes, “…in 2008, the only place I see him standing is beside our next nominee, not as the nominee himself. As a vice presidential candidate he could bring much. Unfortunately, so far, I've seen nothing to imply that he is ready for the presidency.â€
The Mahablog says, “I’m lukewarm on Senator Obama, to tell the truth; he’s a great speaker, but I can’t tell from his Senate record if there is more to him than words.â€

The Associated Press reports an experienced parachutist who jumped from a bridge to his death at a popular festival in West Virginia may have deployed his parachute late.
66-year old Brian Lee Schubert died of injuries suffered when he hit the water 876 feet below the New River Gorge Bridge during the annual Bridge Day festival.
Jenn Levo writes, “Mom and Dad and I were going to drive to West Virginia yesterday to check out the festiviites at Bridge Day. For those of you not in the know...Bridge Day is the largest extreme sports event in the world and is held in October every year in Fayette County, West Virginia…we discovered that some man, who attempted to BASE jump from the bridge, failed to have his parachute open in time…The oddest thing is, after this happened and practically everyone was watching, they just cleaned up the mess and then continued jumping.â€
