12/11/06: BlogHer Meet-up in Washington DC

We had so much fun at our BlogHer meet-up in Seattle that we figured why not take the opportunity to have another meet-up outside Silicon Valley?

The occasion this time is a meeting of the Downtown Women's Club of Washington DC. I'll be their guest at their December mixer, giving a brief talk about blogging. Don't worry there will be more time spent networking then speechifying!

How about Texas?

How about you ladies get yourselves down here to Texas! (Dallas would rock because I know you will all be at SXSW in Austin anyway, but I don't have a ticket for THAT.) I could so go for a get together deep in the heart of Texas. I am just sayin'!

How far is Dallas from Austin anyway?

Texas geography

Don't feel badly, Elisa. Most people in Texas can travel for days and still never leave our huge state! Austin is about 2 and a half hours from where I am. I am more than willing to get my butt to Austin to see my gals. But I think we need a DALLAS area meetup. Because, you know, it is all about the Texas Divas. ;-)

That's quite close to where I work! Sounds interesting and fun. I don't see if an RSVP is required or if there's a cost. Do you know those details, Elisa, or where I can find them?

Got an answer from the organizer. It is definitely free (which makes me anticipate mediocre wine in plastic cups, but hey, I'm easy.)

And there's no RSVP required, although it is being held in a big law office conference room, so if more than a dozen of you reply I'm going to let her know. I look forward to seeing you all.

I'm thrilled to see you as a featured guest at a DWC chapter! BlogHer has been on my list of groups that we need to pay attention to and partner with. And I love that our DC chapter beat me to it. We should see about having BlogHer meetups in any of our cities, or brainstorm about how else we can help support your efforts - i.e. promoting upcoming conferences and offering BlogHer members discounted memberships. I've been blogging on the DWC site and for the Boston Globe's career section for a while, but need to really ramp up my own knowledge and participation in BlogHer.
