Big Fat Check
Awhile back, my single, auditor, all around bad ass, aunt who enjoys giving her first born niece the finer things in life, introduced me to Ebates. Now to know me is to know that I am generally socially awkward around people and in 89% of situations, so I tend to not be around people, which means that being in a mall with hundreds of people, is apt to give me hives and garner a catatonic reaction out of me. So, I tend to shy away. Therefore with the advent of the internet and the popularity of internet shopping, I’m generally hooked. It also means that with my general procrastination that I can begin my shopping December 16th and have everything shipped to everyone and on time, by December 24th. I also enjoy saving money, because money is something that I am often lacking in addition to any social graces. With Ebates, not only do I get to shop online, but then I get cash back every single time, which is then sent out ever quarter via a ‘Big fat check’.
How they do it was something that I never questioned, but from a business perspective, makes pretty good sense:
People often ask: "This sounds too good to be true. How do you do it?" Simple. Just like almost every other online shopping center, we get a commission from the stores when you make a purchase. Most sites keep all this money for themselves. But not Ebates. We share it with you!
Imagine being able to buy a car from a dealership and having the salesman fork over his commission to you, in cash! That's exactly what we do; only we do it at over 800 of the world's top online stores. We save our users millions of dollars each month, and send Big Fat Checks to our happy customers across the globe.
Though I’m starting to sound like an infomercial with my endless profession of love, but I look at it this way: I shop at Sephora at least once every two or so, each time spending between $100 and $200 on whatever product is needed. Though there are at least five Sephoras in the surrounding area, by ordering online I get free shipping, don’t have to worry about crazy DC tax and crazy DC luxury car driving idiot drivers. But, if I purchase through Ebates, I then get 4% cash back. Which may not seem like a lot, but then I also shop through Ebates at Gap, Nordstrom, Banana Republic, and Barnes and Noble. All with free shipping and all without having to deal with people. Golden.
And did I mention that they have a blog? Written by a female (because women know shopping and will find the best way possible to save money while shopping in order to do more shopping later) who yesterday announced this:
In the past, the only way to guarantee youself an authentic Coach bag online was through Coach.com, but now Macy's is the second-ever authorized online Coach retailer! And of course, Ebates offers 6% Cash Back..
So really it’s all a win/win situation that involves shopping and getting money back so that one can shop a little more. And with Christmas coming, this is my own little bit of heaven. So shop early and shop often, obviously.
I forgot to mention that should you decide to try out Ebates (I've gotten a few messages about this and of course, duh), they will ask who referred you and you can say me and my email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
