National Home Education Network

A Life Full of Days...I just wanted to be sure everyone knows that the National Home Education is back online at  NHEN was founded in 1999 by homeschooling parents who volunteered to create a national presence in the homeschooling community. The mission statement is straightforward:...more

I am a mom to 3 AND a Reading Specialist. I can help!

I am well on the path towards starting my homeschool journey with a 4 year old, 3 year old, and 1 year old-but I still need to pay the bills.  I created to give other parents, teachers, and caregivers a place to go to get great tips and resources for teaching reading, or for overcoming reading-related problems. ...more

A Homeschool Mom with Serious Doubts

Okay, I'm going to admit something here that you will never catch me admitting in my real life. Come mid-August, I will start homeschooling all three of my sons. My boys are 9, 7 and soon to be 4 years old.  I will be teaching 5th and 3rd grades and Kindergarten. Each will have a separate curriculum because the materials that work best for the boys do not permit teaching the same material to two children at once.  And I haven't got the slightest clue how I'm going to teach all three and make sure each one is getting enough attention....more

Great Group Idea!

I just found another Blogher homeschooling group that is just starting up: The Resourceful Homeschooler. It's a group for exchanging information about good resources. What a great idea for a group! To get the ball rolling, I'll toss out one of my favorite general resources: This a blog which posts free resources on every subject a few times a week. (And I'm no way affiliated with it, beyond being a faithful reader.) (creative, enriched homeschool)...more

I'm really still here!

Please forgive my absence from this group for the last week or so. My goal is to post here once a week and respond to other's postings. However, life is conspiring against me: three sick kids, followed by me, my monthly charter meeting complete with eight weeks of typed lesson plans, a looming writing deadline, and a horrendous storm that has my electricity off more than on today and probably through the weekend. If I make my writing deadline on Saturday, I should be back on track and posting. See you then!
Sounds good! I look forward to it. Truth be told, if there was a bit more commotion here, I'd ...more

Hello there!  I'm Aimee.  I homeschool two boys, ages 13 and 14.  The 13-year-old has never been in pub school, we took our oldest out in 1st grade, so we've been doing it a while.  We're also fairly eclectic, although my high schooler is enrolled in a distance education school this year, his choice.  My blog is It's pretty much a personal blog and not really about any one thing in particular.  Nice to meecha!...more

Hi there,I'm Annie, and I'm the homeschooling mom of three boys, ages 3, 7 and 8. We are eclectic in our style, and we homeschool through a charter. We've homeschooled since day one. I blog seriously about homeschooling at any given day, teaching the boys can be a great source of satisfaction or frustration. The two appear to alternated randomly, as far as I can tell. And I'm certain you will be hearing more about this as this forum group develops.Anyway, nice to meet you. Please introduce yourself....more
