Thousands of Travelers Stranded
by Erin Kotecki Vest

The Associated Press reports thousands of travelers who were stranded at Denver's airport trying to beat the Christmas rush experienced a second frustrating day, forging through a snowbound city to hotels or opting to bed down again in the terminal.

After burying Colorado under 25 inches of snow and as much as 36 inches at higher elevations, the storm stalked eastward.

June writes, "So, I was supposed to be flying out in exactly half an hour on my way home to Orange County, but instead I'm sitting in snow. It's been crazy."

Nicole says, "We have been stuck inside for 48 hours. AHHHH.... that is a long time. Plus I hate snow, cause it's too damn cold. I hate being cold."

Erin writes, "Ok, So my plan was to move to Denver this past Tuesday. Well I am sure you have heard about the 'SMALL' blizzard outside during the past few days. Yeah I got stuck in it. I have spent the last 33 hours in the local Comfort Inn in Sterling, CO. Oh, what fun!! Welcome to Colorado, Right!?!?!?!"

Ambushka writes, "At roughly the correct time for landing, the pilot comes over the intercom and says that we're in a holding pattern around Denver and we should know if we can land in about 10-15 minutes. Well, about 10-15 minutes he comes over the intercom again and declares that we have been re-routed to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Yippeeee."

I posted some pictures

...and blogged about it. I didn't have to travel, so I confess that for me the storm was mostly fun, or at worst frustrating.

I heard on the radio this morning that they were getting DIA open only this afternoon. That is a LONG time closed!
