Of all the cuisines of the world, no type of cooking is more intimidating to me than Indian food. There are simply so many ingredients I'm not familiar with. That's why I was excited when the talented Meeta of What's For Lunch Honey started a series of posts she's humorously calling Bollywood Cooking.
Meeta is a lovely Indian woman currently living in Weimar, Germany, and her blog features fabulous sounding recipes from all over the world. For the first Bollywood Cooking class, she's covering the topic of Indian Spices introducing us to all the fresh and dried spices used in Indian cooking. I'm betting there are more than a few spices here you aren't familiar with. Meeta does a masterful job explaining how each spice or blend is used, passing on the lessons in Indian cooking she learned from her mother.
Contributing editor Kalyn Denny loves Indian food, but so far she relies on ingredients like Patak's Curry Paste to combat her insecurity about tackling Indian cooking.
