Diplaced by Katrina, new event entrepreneur turns lemons into lemonade

BlogHer Original Post

I was contacted by an amazing woman named Valeri Bocage. She was told about BlogHer through a mutual friend, and she wrote to tell me her story:

I am from New Orleans and moved here to San Francisco after losing everything I had in Hurricane Katrina. I left with two pair of jeans two blouses and a pair of PJ's. I was not home that weekend and visiting some friends. I had nothing to go back to, so I asked myself what I wanted to do and it was to empower women to go beyond their dream and expectations.

The answer that came to her: Positive Women International, a Networking Group that brings women together to enhance, empower, educate and expand their lives with the purpose of strengthening them, their families and the community.

Now, settled in the Bay Area, Valeri is launching a
series of events for women. The next one here in California:

Saturday, February 3, 2007
San Francisco Airport Hyatt Hotel
1333 Bayshore Hwy.
Burlingame, CA 94010

I was inspired by Valeri's story. Perhaps you will be, too.
