Okay, BlogHer-istas, it's time to stop performing into your hairbrush and get serious. BlogHer wants you to write a fabulous Academy Awards acceptance speech and you'll be automatically entered to win a FREE pass to either BlogHer Business '07 in New York or BlogHer '07 in Chicago. That's right, it's a contest, and the prize is so much better than a gold statue of a naked guy named Oscar!
On Feb. 25, Hollywood glitterati will storm the red carpet for a chance to grab a little gold statue with their carefully manicured mitts and thank the people who helped them get where they are today. Or not.
We read your blogs—and we've noticed that you know a little something about performance art yourselves. So bring it. If you were on that stage this year, who would you thank? Or not? Play yourself as yourself or play yourself as an actual nominee, make it serious, make it funny, we don't care.
(Who would Beyoncé thank? Her armpits? Jay-Z? Her mother-slash-stylist? ...You get the idea.)
Here's everything you need to know...
HOW TO WIN A FREE PASS TO EITHER BLOGHER CONFERENCE IN 2007:
1. Enter your thank-you speech in the comments here by 11:59 P.M. on Feb. 16.
2. She who gets the most "replies" to her speech wins so make it gooooooood.
3. Please help us decide! Even if you don't enter, please check out the speeches and vote for your favorite by commenting
Votes will be tallied and the winner on Feb. 21.
Bring on the Botox and double-stick tape! And remember, it's an honor just to be nominated!

A recommendation to "voters"
Due to some potential threading issues, make sure to mention the blogher by name who you are voting for in your comments. Otherwise, it's going to get awfully confusing - and I would guess it might sort of be considered a dangling chad or something. :-)
I can't wait to see the acceptance speeches. Oh wait, can we only vote once???? I'm horrible at making those kinds of choices - Obama vs Hilary and now this??????????? The pressure!

To Be Or Not To Be
How do you write a good speech? Now, I know the rules to writing a good thank-you letter. I even learnt how to express criticism, or how to make a suggestion, proposal, or request, but writing a speech! Here is a post I wrote about my dilemma... (more).

I think anything goes, especially at the
"Academy Awards"
There have been people who use it at a political forum, people who say funny things, people who thank their kindergarten teacher, etc.
Just make it your own...but if you pretend to be celebrity, you can make it their own (and more "over-the-top," perhaps?)
