One of the things I love most about the Blogher site is the idea of women empowering each other and the wonderful things that can come from this feminine energy. That's why I'm so excited to share some wonderful news about something that came out of last summer's Blogher Conference.

When I started writing at Blogher, I did a piece on weight-loss blogs, and discovered the charmingly written blog Half of Me, written by a young woman who calls herself "Pastaqueen," and who was on a mission to lose half her body weight. At the Blogher conference this summer I met an editor who mentioned she was looking for bloggers to write books, and I casually mentioned this blog to her. Then when I got home I sent Pastaqueen an e-mail telling her I had mentioned her to an editor and complimenting her on her writing.

You guessed it! This morning Pastaqueen announced on her blog that her book will be coming out in 2008, and gave a thanks to Blogher and me for helping make it happen. I'm so happy and excited for her. Pastaqueen has 30 more pounds to go before she has officially lost half of the 372 pounds she weighed when she started her weight loss and blogging journey. I'll be watching with interest, cheering her on all the way.

Contributing editor Kalyn Denny from Kalyn's Kitchen also lost some weight and became a blogger in the process, and hopes her South Beach friendly recipes can help others who are trying to lose weight.
