Back Up Your Birth Control Blog Day
by Denise

Don't be surprised if you discover an unusual number of bloggers talking about emergency contraception. Today is Back Up Your Birth Control Blog Day!

As the mom of teens (and young adults), I'm most interested in the newly launched emergency contraception information site created specifically for teens: I Need EC

* Most teenagers in the U.S. don’t have access to EC over-the-counter (but they do in areas of Alaska, California, Vermont, Hawaii, Washington, Maine, New Hampshire and New Mexico)

That is frightening.

I just sent this site to Michelle, my 17 year old daughter, and told her to memorize that url. Odds are she will have a friend who needs EC and won't know how to get it. If Michelle needs it, I have it - or will have it, since I just ordered it from Drugstore.com.

Blog about emergency contraception today, please. And if you see someone else blogging about the topic, take a minute to leave a comment and let them know you appreciate their efforts.

Leaving my comment here b/c

Leaving my comment here b/c I do appreciate YOUR efforts. I couldn't agree more about the fright thing... It's easier to get heroin than it is to get EC. But in a country where Target gets decide about the distribution and availability of birth control pills, easy, unencumbered access to EC would seem, well, just impossibly utopian.

I whipped something up and just posted it

I had to do this, I cobbled together a post. There are women who need to know this that are being misled by the media and faith based organizations. The media is not doing an adequate job of distinguishing between Plan B and RU-486. These are the same people who are now spending time analyzing the change in Phil Spector's hair style.

I want to point out I don't object to faith based organizations expressing their point of view. I do object when they do not give the accurate facts about the topic. Thank you so much for allowing me to pass this along down the line.
