We Hurt, We Cook

It's not like we're not watching, we're not grieving, with the rest of the nation. But food blogs are notably quiet on the shootings at Virginia Tech. Still, a few words emerge.

A Finger in Every Pie ... who's being married on Saturday, "I have been so obscenely happy lately that every now and then I have to take a reality check. ... I know that in the midst of grief, we are still in life. And my joy continues." [read the whole post]

A Fridge Full of Food ... "... for the love of God, what is WRONG with people who go on shooting sprees?" [read the whole post]

Eat ... "When I am feeling powerless all I can think of doing is to feed people." [read the whole post]

Mostly, however, we just cook. It's how we deal.

What a great title for your

What a great title for your post. Yep, food definitely provides comfort at these times. It reminds me of Raymond Carver's short story, "A Small, Good Thing".

I'm guessing a few food bloggers might be familiar with that story: it combines a tragic event and the idea of food as a comforting force.
