I'm back--and what I'm reading in Sex and relationship blogs right now
by susan mernit

Hey, I’m back.

Now that Liz is coupled, I’m going to come back in and start doing more regular postings on sex, dating & relationships---and the bloggers who cover those areas.

To get started, an update on me.

Yep, I work at an online dating service, a big one.
And I am both formerly married and currently single.
And I date.
Geeze, do I date.
Two years post break-up, it feels like I know more about mid-life dating (and the online dating services) than I ever imagined possible.

--So I want to share all that stuff with you. After all, we're all in this together--so I will be answering questions, discussing issues and recommending--and highlighting--things to read, watch and listen to.

So, I’ll be posting everything from the ridiculous to the sublime, 2-4 times a week—heartfelt truths and quotes that will, quite possibly, make you blush.

What's taking my attention right now? Some of the current faves:

Chelsea Girl
Chelsea Girl and her boyfriend Donnie mix it up in a way that feels like Sex & the City, only for real

Cunning Minx:
A Seattle polyamorist and pdcaster’s personal Live Journal contains ideas and stories well worth a read.

Dirty, filthy, princess:
You know that nice woman down the street with the big SUV and the cute kids? This could be her secret sex blog. 18+ and X-rated

The Riverdale Goddess:
Want to know what happens when a long-married, 40 something working woman decides to get into sacred sexuality, tantra, sensual touch, BDSM and more? Of course you do—and this is the blog.

Rachael Parenta:
Dating and life obserations, posted by a sharp-eyed East Coast comic.

Sexerati
Melissa Gira and Luz Nightmare write a blog that is what fleshbot might look like if written by post-modern, sex-positive deconstructionist tech nerds—girl ones, of course.

Smart at Love:
Annie Dennison’s advice to the dating.

Violetblue, Open Source Sex
Violet is SF’s reigning sex-positive reporter, blogger, vblogger, podcaster and all round adventuress. Read about it all here.

Viviane’s Sex Carnival:
A daily round up of all the NSFW must-reads.

Do you have favorite sex, dating and dating blogs? If yes, post in the comments here.

Staying Single

Oh Susan

You give me hope!

I'm a single mum aged 38 and have 2 sons aged 11 and 10. I've been single for a while now, but last year was a horrendous experience for me, which was rather pivotal. After a stream of disastrous dates I was then pestered by a series of married men, and I decided to stay single for a year - simply to put myself out of the loop of the dating game, and give myself some space to think what I wanted for me and my family!

I'm intrigued to hear that "Geeze, do I date" - gives me a glimmer of hope!

I started my fictionalised blog, a semi-autobiographical blook which includes my horrendous experiences, and charts the story of a fictitious character (Sophie Regan) who decides to stay single for a year.

I've been filming some short documentaries (which I'm going to upload twice a week) about peoples dating experiences and am actively on the hunt for chat up scenarios/lines and ways we dump (funny, wicked or cruel).

If anyone has anything to add, please come along to http://sophie-stayingsingle.blogspot.com

I'm going off now to check out this list of dating and relationships blogs - and would welcome any of your comments at Staying Single with open arms!!!

xx

Hello Susan, thanks for including me on this list. I'm definitely going to check out the other blogs you listed as well. Thanks, also, for helping me find blog her.

BlogHer wouldn't be what it is for me w/o you, Susan. Thanks always for sending us some love.

Thanks for the mention!

Thanks for the mention! However, I'm not Seattle-based; only my free comment line is. (Actually, ALL comment lines from K7.net are in the 206 area code). I'm in Chicago, myself. But I do get around and am also newly single. :-)
