I decided to show off some photographic standouts from the Blogher Art & Design blogroll (including one I just discovered.) You know, because I can, and I think sometimes those rolls get lonely. That's no good for great art.
Alison Bynum shoots gorgeous photos of kids and families, but also has some nice travel photos too. I love this shot that she recently took in Belize. [img_assist|fid=3705|thumb=1|alt=alison bynum fence]
Jen Lemen shows you a photo of her new pink bike, and if you scroll down, some great shots of her family's recent trip to South Africa. Jen's writing is inspiration and reflection at its best, and so are her illustrations. I had the pleasure of meeting her at Blogher Business, and was so glad to find her and her blog. I think you will be, too.
Mary Daniel Hobson's gallery of photo and mixed media collages includes some of the most beautiful work I've ever seen in this medium. "Union" is one of my favorites.
Mary says,
At the age of 14, my camera taught me to pay attention. A garbage can, a crack in the sidewalk, ivy climbing the side of a building could create a frame full of beauty. I began to see the world in all its fine detail, and a life-long passion in photography claimed me.
Her journal is a wonderful accompaniment to her work, and goes in depth into her creative - and business - process.
Deloris Clark-Osborne shows off the best of her corner of Michigan, which segues nicely into my newest discovery - and flickr friend - Dane. She takes great photos of the equally lovely state of Ohio and posts them - along with mp3s - on her photography and music blog, "All Eyes and Ears."
Also late of Michigan and now Californian Stacy Campbell is not on the Art & Design blogroll (yet) but is one of my favorites just the same. Recently nominated for a Blogger's Choice Award in photography, Anastacia Campbell Photography is a visual treat - and is also available for sale, don'tcha know.
Jeanette Chisholm is killing me with her pet photography and her wedding photography, not to mention her "pets at weddings" photography. So cute (I'm a pug and Boston Terrier person, naturally) and beyond that, so artfully done. Known as "Off the Leash Photography" where the furry friends are concerned, and simply "Jeanette Chisholm Photography" elsewhere, her work is worth a look.
I'm also loving Dawn's work in words and pictures at Inchoate and her accompanying photoblog. And why "Inchoate"? She says,
My life is imperfectly formed in that I’m always changing, always growing.
That certainly reflects much of what I capture through my own lens.
