I just made my reservation at the hostel. This is going to be fun! I can certainly handle $96 for three nights as opposed to more than $200 per night. Woohoo!

Geez, that's a hell of a lot cheaper. I reserved a room at the City Centre and was hoping to find a male roommate. Not sure how likely that is, but the hostel thing could work.
What's the security like? I mean if I want to leave my laptop in the room? Anyone know?

I'm excited to meet the rest of you and to attend my first BlogHer conference! :-) I'm coming into Chicago Midway airport about 7:30 pm on Thursday and plan to take the subway/train to the hostel. If anyone is getting in around that time we could pal up.
Also I'm up for walking to the conference, public transportation, or maybe even a cab -- I'm going for budget choices and the easy way to "see the sights."
I will be getting into Chicago earlier on Thursday, so when you arrive, there should evidence of my having been there. :)
Definitely, we should all powwow about the AM. I'm thinking I'm going to be walking, but I haven't planned it out, and I'm betting I'll use a cab more than once, too!
I'm also staying at the hostel. There are lockers, but you need to bring your own lock.
Each room has its own lock and no one not staying or accompanying someone staying in the hostel can get past the public area. There's a $2/day bag lock-up on the first floor.
It sounds like they're making BlogHer-only rooms. That might work out really well for a guy (your choice of any bunk).
The walk is LONG to Navy Pier and involves going through some kind of horror movie long bridge tunnels, but a CTA visitor's pass ($5/day) will take you on the #29 to and from Navy Pier to a half block from the hostel. There may be a walk to take the free trolleys if you don't mind a transfer or two along the way.

Glad to hear from another bunkmate! I think we will all be in the same room - BlogHer reserved rooms just for us, I think. :)

Hi, Karl
I'm staying at the Hostel, and I believe there's some sort of locker situation. I'll be taking my laptop back and forth, though, personally.
Then again, I wouldn't leave a laptop in a hotel room, either, so that's just me. :)
If you do the hostel, though, let me know and we can walk together. (I'm planning to be all urban-adventury this year - woohoo!)

We'll be right by the El, the subway lines, the Gothamesque Chicago Public Library and the awesome Art Institute.
I'm driving in on Thursday and look forward to meeting everyone.

Thanks for all the great hostel info!
I was wondering about bringing my own lock. And I'm excited about BlogHer only rooms - it's going to be fun!

I'm Hosteling It
Hey all, just got my confirmation for the hostel, so I'll be staying there, too. Hopefully, we can coordinate and rideshare (on foot, I assume).
