When New Zealand food blogger Barbara Harris decided to sponsor an event featuring yellow food for Livestrong Day, May 16, she couldn't have imagined the response she would receive.
The amazing total of 143 entries reflected an incredible display of support for Barbara, diagnosed with cancer in 2004 and fighting it ever since. Bloggers made everything from lemon bars to saffron rice to yellow passionfruit cupcakes, all lovingly created with affection for Barbara in her fight against cancer. See the entire Taste of Yellow roundup of dishes featuring yellow foods on Barbara's blog.
The Livestrong Foundation is sponsoring worldwide and local events on May 16 to raise money for cancer research. You can make donations at their site.
(This post is dedicated to the memory of Joan Feil, a wonderful second grade teacher at my school who recently lost her battle with breast cancer and who is greatly missed.)
