I've come a long way...baby...but, then again...my Style Bytes!

It was 1976 and -- at a time when our country celebrated its bicentennial and both the Summer and Winter Olympics were held...in the same year -- all eyes were on Innsbruck, Austria as the world watched a 19 year old girl skate her way to a gold medal -- as well as be the first female to sign a $1 million per year contract with the Ice Capades -- and win accolades that young women of the time were only beginning to realize.

Then American 'tweens -- like yours truly -- began demanding hair salons for the "Dorothy Hamill wedge!"

So, what if Dorothy Hamill was just as cute as her haircut -- and perhaps the only thing I had in my favor was...um...that my hair was nearly the same shade of chestnut brown -- who knew?

Hell, I was only 12 -- the same age as my oldest daughter -- but young women know so much more, today; don't they?

Though the 70's has suprisingly filtered its way back into my life -- some good and some...not so much -- and headed straight into my daughters' closets, it's important for me, as a mother of three girls, to allow them what I didn't have...their own sense of style.

That's why I love hanging out with BlogHer(s), because they never cease to open these tired eyes of mine and -- like a breath of fresh air -- I get treated to blogs like Style Bytes!

Agathe Bjarnsdatter is a student studying in the University of Oslo...like in, Norway!...and I found her right here...on a BlogHer blogroll!

I was checking her out -- c'mon, ladies...you know we all do it -- and I found a link that my girls and I love, where we can hang out together, experiment and try on...hairstyles...in our pajamas!?!?

I admire people that stand out from the crowd. Anyone who chooses their own path, even though I might not agree with them. The same thing is true when it comes to fashion. Without people like that the world would be a boring place.

Now, this is a young woman that any BlogHer reader (the young and the not so much) could be proud of!
