For me, there's nothing worse than a head cold. I get crabby and downright obnoxious. I suspect it's the lack of breathing that gets me. Others spend their time qui vive for any sign of the flu. I started to think I might be able to avoid whining from my bed by taking care of my immune system instead.
Live Naturally ~~ Mind, Body & Spirit has an excellent list of 20 immune boosters, including number 16: keep a journal, which I do. I'm feeling better already.
Sailu's Food offers an introduction to fighting colds the Ayurvedic way and offers up several easy-to-make natural remedies.
Mahanandi, a beautiful compendium of recipes from India and beyond, offers "an Ayurvedic weapon against cold/flu," using ginger. Since she hasn't been sick in 10 years, I'm bookmarking that page.
Chinese Wisdom writes about the benefits of acupuncture on the immune system and why it's worked for over 2000 years.
LadyBex Nutrition praises yogurt (it contains probiotics, a bacteria that regulates the immune system) and recommends her favorite brands.
Good Food Ends with Good Talks suggests taking the root Astragalus as a preventative measure. This post contains extremely detailed information about the properties of Astragalus and how it is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
I can't wait to get boosting!
