Yesterday's response to my Grey's Anatomy posting got me thinking... what are women watching on TV, really? I could go to Nielsen, I could go to any poll, really, but would that be a true idea of what women are watching and thinking about?

Me, I'm pretty much a geek/nerd/sci-fi freak, with a little bit of a hour-long-drama bent. I've avoided the majority of the Reality TV craze, but I know plenty of women bloggers who can't get enough of it. There's something on for everyone, or so I've heard, and with 12 million channels, I'm sure that there's going to be some differences. So why is it there are some nights I can't find anything that can keep my attention?

What are today's women watching? Are you a sci-fi nut, a sitcom junkie or a reality tv kind of gal? Does Discovery Channel keep you up nights, or do you avoid the TV as much as possible?

- Wire in the Blood (BBC)
- Firefly
- Taken
- Without a Trace
- Boston Public
- Coupling

And the very very best:
- Desperate Housewives

Every knot has someone to undo it (Syrian proverb)

I watch Prison Break, Lost, and The Sopranos pretty consistently, but there's only one that I am completely addicted to:

The Office!

Good thing, since that's what my blog is all about. ;)

Ok here is my list -

I forgot some that I just remembered in reading all of the other comments:

The Colbert Report (it's a religion for me)
The Daily Show (I watch it less often now because it's less funny compared with Colbert)
How I Met Your Mother
Lost (saving for later, as I haven't finished season 1 yet; I have a hard time liking this show for some reason)
Scrubs

This is a little embarrassing. I have TWO dual-tuner TiVos, after all.

Here's what's currently set for a season pass in my TiVo (this does NOT mean I'm caught up on all of these):

24
Alias (if it ever comes back)
The Amazing Race (I'm watching season 2 repeats on GSN, but will also be watching TAR 9 SOON!)
Arrested Development (although it's over now)
Battlestar Galactica
Beauty & the Geek
Bones
Boston Legal (this one is just for my boyfriend; I don't usually watch it)
Courting Alex
Dancing with the Stars
Deadwood (I'm catching up on season 2)
Entourage (I'm catching up on season 2)
Everwood (if it EVER comes back)
Everybody Hates Chris
Huff (I'm catching up on season 1)
Gilmore Girls
My Name is Earl
Off to War (repeats on Discovery Times)
The Office
Prison Break
The Shield
Smallville
Supernatural
Veronica Mars

I also watch a few programs on BBC America and I catch occasional episodes of lots of other stuff. I'm also probably forgetting something, but it's probably best that way!

I probably watch too much TV. At least, according to my mother. Who, even though I'm 30, still thinks she can control my every waking moment. I love her dearly. Anyway.

Since I'm an editor at a newspaper, I work nights and get a lot of use out of the wonder that is TiVo.

Sunday: Cold Case, Grey's Anatomy
Monday: How I Met Your Mother, 24
Tuesday: Gilmore Girls, House, Scrubs, Law and Order: SVU
Wednesday: watch Veronica Mars, TiVo Lost
Thursday: CSI, Without a Trace
Friday: Battlestar Galactica

Hey. Not as much as I thought. How 'bout that.

I watch all the CSIs and have a humongus crush on Heratio Kane on CSI Miami. I still watch ER, they're family.
Other Favorites:
Crossing Jordan-more dead people, woman with guts.
Close to Home-It's growing on me
Law and Order-SUV and CI (I like the nut-job mind detective)
Right now I am watching the Olympics because I like athlete men in Spandex. Seriously because I like watching 'the best in all of us.' That's a quote from somewhere...
I also watch the Survivor series and Dancing with Stars. (Great host)

Ours is pretty quiet too. We try and watch the Daily Show and The Colbert Report. And I like some of the Adult Swim shows, ATHF and Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law. Miami Ink on Tuesdays, and The Office on Thursdays when I get home early enough to watch it. Pretty comedy-heavy here.

I guess ours isn't so quiet after all...

Okay, I love TV. Just like I love Little Debbie Swiss Cake rolls. And just like when eating Little Debbies -- if I don't watch it -- TV and snack cake will widen my ass. But here is my list:

Mondays: Medium
Tuesdays: American Idol/Boston Legal
Wednesdays: American Idol
Thursdays: (when its on -- Apprentice)
Friday: nada
Sat: The Food Network in the mornings
Sunday -- starting in March -- Sopranos

Anytime I can remember to catch it: Queer Eye, Project Runway, and TLC's WNTW. When they are on: Blow Out and Hell's Kitchen.

In fact, the Food Network takes up all the dead air in my weekends if the TV is on. I am addicted. It's like the Paula Dean stroke watch -- all that butter and mayo! I swear I saw her put butter, cheese AND mayo is a dip once.

I am taking a break from Survivor this time around. I hate it when the rules change for the heck of it. And I got lost when I missed too many epi's of Lost, as I did with Surface and now it's gone for a while. I SHOULD be watching Battlestar Gallactica but I am SO behind the story arc there that I can't catch up.

And of course, if Trek is on anywhere, I am there.

Our TV is very quiet. We watch it twice a week:

Tuesday nights - Gilmore Girls (I recently blogged about my disgust with Palladino, by the way)

Thursday nights - Survivor (I'm not enjoying the new season at all but have not blogged about that, yet)

I'm loving that new show on Friday nights, "InJustice." It's about people on death row who have been wrongfully convicted and hasn't gotten old yet.

Law and Order and ER. That's it. I spend far too many hours reading blogs to bother with crap on TV. Having said that I would probably watch more if there was a better choice of programmes here in Greece. Twenty channels of arrogant, ignorant men shouting at each other and another twenty with dyed blonde women gossipping about celebrity scandals and fashion. Not my idea of entertainment.

Ok, I'll Play: What's on Deb's TV (soon, hopefully what's on Deb's Tivo):

Sunday: Watch: Grey's Anatomy, tape: Crossing Jordan.

Tuesday: NCIS, House

Wednesday: Lost, Project Runway. Tape: Law and Order.

Thursday: CSI, ER (hard habit to break). Tape: Without a Trace.

Friday: Battlestar Galactica. (well, I watch the Stargate shows too, but they have stopped being "must watch").

I will watch Top Chef when PR ends.

I also catch some of the Iron Chefs, but I like the original better than the American version. And after all these decades, I am still hooked on NOVA and FRONTLINE.

During the summer, I am a baseball addict. And I will watch the major tennis competitions.

I do enjoy some of the reality shows, but I want competitors with some talent. My favorite reality show (now defunct, alas) was The Mole because it encouraged me think a bit. There is an art-based reality show in Britain that I wish we could see in the US.
