Inspiring Young Bloghers
by Britt Bravo

I was going to post today just about Heddy Nam's interview on the Global Youth Fund blog with her roommate, and fellow organizer, Marian Hodgkin, but as I clicked through to find more information about the two women, I was inspired by their goals and accomplishments and wanted to share them with you. Marian and Heddy are working together with other young people to create a global youth network called Never Again:

Never Again, an international youth network, was founded at the Institute for International Mediation and conflict Resolution's 2001 Symposium at The Hague. Never Again, a group of students and young graduates from around the world, created a collaborative international partnership. Never Again aims to alert the international community to both the causes and effects of genocide and facilitate the exchange of ideas between young people - those who have lived through genocide and those who wish to learn from them. Never Again aims to provoke ideas and action for the prevention of future conflict by bringing people together to cross borders.

They've created a Never Again International wiki to launch their project.

Both women have travelled to Rwanda and you can read Heddy's reflections from her recent trip at Heddy's Rwanda Blog.

Marian's response to Heddy's last interview question, "If you could give a piece of advice to other young people about how to change the world, what would it be?" is:

I don't feel very qualified to be giving advice, but in a way, this is itself the lesson: whatever your experience and expertise, however little it might be, if you have something you are committed to, motivated about, and that no one else seems to be doing - do it, and don't be surprised if great things happen.

Sounds like good advice for "old" people too.
