Introduction to Travel and Recreation

Whether for pleasure or work, I love to travel. I try to make the most of every place I visit, domestic or international. In exploring new places, I've found that the best way to know a place is to get out there: you've got to talk to the locals, walk the streets, swim the oceans, hike the forests, bike the back roads, etc. Personally, I also particularly enjoy the chance to go to medical history museums, religious shrines/relics, collections curated in someone's home, and any other oddities.

Travel and recreation are always best when you can go home and share your adventures with other people. Hopefully, I've done enough things while away that my travel tales entertain, amuse, educate, and at best, inspire others to go to new places to do and see things that are different from their daily lives. The good news is that there are plenty of other women who have great travel and recreation stories that they share with the blogosphere.

It's also important to keep in mind, however, that travel is not always for fun. People travel for business, medical care, funerals, or to take care of personal business and settle old issues. Sometimes, even when travel is intended to be fun, things go awry. I think it is important to capture all the reasons people hit the road and what happens to them when they do.

I hope that by contributing to BlogHer's Travel and Recreation topic, I can point web travelers to the best travel and recreation insights, tales, and sagas that women (and sometimes men) are offering. Great travel and recreation tips come from a variety of sources, and I am always open to finding and sharing what is out there. Strap yourself in and let's have a wild ride!
