Michigan Primary-Open Thread Discussion
by Erin Kotecki Vest

Michigan voters head to the polls today to cast their ballot in the state's GOP Primary. Polls indicate (do we believe polls anymore?) former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has a narrow lead over Senator John McCain and everyone is talking unemployment.

Michigan has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country -- 7.4 percent, compared with 5 percent nationally.

While a few Democrats remain on the ballot, the party's National Convention has stripped the state of it's delegates and there has been no campaigning on the Dem side. It's possible Michigan Democrats will hold a caucus at a later date to make their delegates "count" come convention time. Florida on January 29th is in a similar situation.

Keep in mind Michigan voters do not have party registration and can cast their votes in either the Republican or Democratic Primary-meaning we might see Democrat and Independent voters make a difference in this GOP Primary.

BlogHer would also like to note there is a Democratic debate tonight. We are a non-partisan site, and because we failed to open a thread during last week's Fox News Republican debate, we will not open a discussion thread for the democratic debate tonight. As we move forward with our election coverage, we'll make a decision to open threads on a debate-by-debate basis, taking our cues from the community.

As always, leave your links, post your thoughts, share your comments and ideas. Let's see what Michigan does!

Fantastic resource Morra, thanks.

Michigan is my "home state" as I was born and raised near Detroit-California is home now, but I'll be calling friends and family today to see how they voted.

OT - The election widget

It doesn't show up for me. It's just a white box with a header. Is it down? Or could it be my computer?

RSS bug, widget is RSS-driven

Hey, I spoke with Denise who let me know that our recent conference web site upgrade did something to our RSS feeds, and since the widget is RSS-driven, it's caught in the bug.

Hopefully going to be fixed by morning.
