Amanda has made a difference here at Blogher and she's left her mark on the Blogosphere as well. She made the biggest difference of all in the life of her husband, Eric. And now she's hurting.

I don't know if we can make a difference in Amanda's life right now but I know we can all make a difference in her honor and in Eric's. Take a minute and light a candle, say a prayer, send energy and love. Consider how you might make a difference, how you might be able to help, what you might do today or tomorrow or next year and then do it.

In honor of Eric you may send donations to ClearWater Conservancy and Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh (which provides free care to children with chronic illnesses)

Hello, it's me, trying to rebuild some stability. I'm in North Carolina now, near my parents, brothers, and sisters, and have finally gotten (semi) settled into a new place. Thanks for everything that you did to honor Eric's memory. I'll write soon...

this is great, denise. i also made two pages at firstgiving to make donating in eric's memory easy.

donate ( https://www.firstgiving.com/mipmup2 ) to free care friends at children's hospital of pittsburgh.

donate ( https://www.firstgiving.com/mipmup ) to clearwater conservancy.

note: the firstgiving site works better in safari than in firefox.

Denise,

A fabulous fiber artist (Virginia Spiegel) set out last summer to raise the money for the 24 hour cancer relay. She asked a bunch of us fiber artists to make artist's postcards and mail them to her. Then she sold on online for $30. She hoped to make about $90.

Things mushroomed. She was given a booth at one of the largest quilt show in the world where they also held a silent auction of smaller art quilt pieces. The postcards continued.

At the end of 2005, she had raised $33,000+ for the American Cancer Society from her website. ( http://www.virginiaspiegel.com/NewFiles/ACSFundrai... )

Next month there will be an IQA spring show in Chicago, with another booth of postcards ( http://www.virginiaspiegel.com/NewFiles/ACSIQFPrev... ) made for Virginia. I will be writing this story with a bit more detail for BlogHer a couple days before the show begins. Yes, I'll cross-reference health and wealthness.

One of my closest friends died of colon cancer right after Christmas. I have some of her "stash" , and I'm determined to make a whole bunch of cards in her honor this year. Too late for Chicago; I haven't been able to make myself work with her stuff yet. Unfortunately, there is always another auction.
