A Caribbean introduction, and a request
by Karen Walrond

Hi, everyone -- I'm Karen, the author of Chookooloonks, and the new editor for the Caribbean section of BlogHer! I'm really excited about this opportunity, because there are some wonderful and talented West Indian women out there whose work should be showcased, and I'm honoured to be the person to make sure this happens.

So, a bit about me: I was born in Trinidad & Tobago (a small Caribbean island just off the coast of Venezuela), moved to the United States when I was 15, became an engineer and then a lawyer and lived in the US until I was 34, then I moved to London for work and lived there for a couple of years, then I picked up an English husband, then we moved back to the States, and then, a year ago, my English husband and American daughter and I returned to Trinidad. Now, I photograph things and I write things. And life here in the tropics is great.

So here I am, and I hope to bring you the best that the Caribbean has to offer in terms of blogger talent. To that end, I need your help: do you have a favourite blogger from the Caribbean that you like to follow? The blogger can either be (a) not West Indian, but currently living in the West Indies/Caribbean, or (b) West Indian, but living elsewhere. If so, we want to know about them! Please add their links in the comments, so I can make sure they're in the blogroll -- and I can be sure to keep up with them, and therefore let you know when they're doing great things. Because here in the tropics, we're always doing great things.

Thanks -- in the meantime, be sure to check out the Caribbean blogs we've already included in our blogroll. Also, drop me a line anytime with ideas of how you'd like to let our Caribbean community grow online!

Adding my blog

Hello Karen,
I was searching for a list of Blogs in this Latin America/Caribbean directory to see if mine was already listed. However I got sidetracked by so many interesting ones. After spending more time reading than searching, I give up.

Please add
Marvia's Panama Journal

Thank you and keep up the great work. All that talk about limin makes me miss home bad!
Peace,
Marvia
